For N. barkeri and P. kadii, the development was faster, while the reproduction was higher in N. barkeri and A. largoensis than for P. kadii. Survival of immatures of T. swirskii and C. negevi was low on eggs of B. zonata and all failed to develop be- yond the protonymphal stage. A total of 35.4, 31.2 and 19.6 eggs per female, respectively, were obtained when N. barkeri, A. lar- goensis and P. kadii were fed B. zonata eggs. A diet of the peach fruit fly eggs provided the longest female longevity and highest mean total fecundity, which resulted in the highest net reproductive rate (Ro=34.61 and 32.78) and doubling time (DT=1.53 and 1.60) for N. -

Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) neyshabouris (Denmark & Daneshvar, 1982) were recorded for the second time. This species with the male of Proprioseiopsis messor (Wainstein, 1960) are redescribed and illustrated. A key to the adult females of the Razavi Khorasan province of Iran is also provided. Phytoseius corniger Wainstein, 1959 had the highest abundance and distribution in this survey. Key words: Predatory mite fauna, abundance, Mesostigmata, northeast Iran. Introduction Razavi Khorasan province is located in northeastern Iran. Mashhad is located in the center and is the capital of the province. Agriculture in Razavi Khorasan province is one of the largest and most important suppliers of agricultural products, with more than 1.06 million hectares under cultivation and horticultural crops play a decisive role in the economy of the province and country (Anonymous 2012). Predatory mites of the family Phytoseiidae are the most important natural enemies of tetranychid and eriophyid mites (Acari: Tetranychidae and Eriophyidae) (Gerson et al. 2003; Sabelis 1996). These mites feed on small insects such as whiteflies, thrips and scale insects as well as injurious plant mites. -

We hypothesized that organic matter such as straw mulch also favors the maintenance of predatory mites which visit strawberry plants at nighttime. We compared mite diversity in cereal straw exposed for different periods in strawberry fields and evaluated their possible migration to plants in two experiments with potted plants in 2019. An ‘Early season’ experiment compared no mulching (T1), oat straw mulch exposed in field since 2018 (T2), or 2017 (T3), while a ‘Mid-season’ experiment compared no mulching (T1), barley straw mulch from 2018 (T2), or a mix from 2017 and 2018 (T3). -

765 MITES FLUCTUATION POPULATION ON PEACH TREE (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) AND IN ASSOCIATED PLANTS 1 CARLA ROSANA EICHELBERGER2, LIANA JOHANN3, FERNANDA MAJOLO3, NOELI JUAREZ FERLA3 ABSTRACT - Despite the importance of peach (Prunus persica (L.) Batsch) in Rio Grande do Sul, little is known about mites fluctuation population considered important to this crop. The objective of this study was to know the population diversity and fluctuation of mite species associated with Premier and Eldorado varieties in Roca Sales and Venâncio Aires counties, Rio Grande do Sul. The study was conducted from July 2008 to June 2009 when 15 plants were randomly chosen in each area. The plants were divided in quadrants and from each one a branch was chosen from which three leaves were removed: one collected in the apical region, another in the medium and the other in the basal region, totalizing 180 leaves/area. Five of the most abundant associated plants were collected monthly in enough amounts for the screening under the stereoscopic microscope during an hour. A total of 1,124 mites were found belonging to 14 families and 28 species. Tetranychus ludeni Zacher, 1913, Panonychus ulmi (Koch, 1836) and Mononychellus planki (McGregor, 1950) were the most abundant phytophagous mites, whereas Typhlodromalus aripo Deleon, 1967 and Phytoseiulus macropilis (Banks, 1904) the most common predatory mites. The period of one hour under stereoscopic microscope was enough to get a representative sample. In both places evaluated the ecologic indices were low, but little higherin Premier (H’ 0.56; EqJ: 0.43) when compared to Eldorado (H’ 0.53; EqJ 0.40). -

Kittipong Chaisiri November 2016 This research was carried out in the Department of Infection Biology, Institute of Infection and Global Health, University of Liverpool ii ABSTRACT Molecular ecology of chigger mites (Acari: Trombiculidae) and associated bacteria in Thailand Kittipong Chaisiri Chiggers are the tiny six-legged larval stage of mites in the family Trombiculidae. These mites, particularly the genus Leptotrombidium, act as important vectors of Orientia tsutsugamushi, the causative agent of scrub typhus disease in the Asia-Pacific region (including Thailand). Although the medical impact of these mites has been recognized in the country due to the increasing incidence of the disease in humans, knowledge of the ecology and epidemiological role of these mites is still very limited to date. A systematic review of mite-associated bacteria was conducted from 193 publications (1964 - January 2015) providing a reference database of bacteria found in mites of agricultural, veterinary and medical importance. Approximately 150 bacterial species were reported from 143 mite species with Cardinium, Wolbachia and Orientia as the dominant genera. Nationwide field sampling of small mammals from 13 locations in Thailand revealed a high diversity of chigger mites. From approximately 16,000 mites isolated from 18 host species examined (1,574 individual animals), 38 chigger species were found including three species new to science (i.e., Trombiculindus kosapani n. -

Abstract: Phytoseiid mites are known as the important predators of phytophage mites and small insects. These mites are found in various crops. A faunistic and dispersion survey of phytoseiid mites was carried out from 2010-2013 in more than 10 province orchards, selected from all the western regions of Iran. Different samples were taken from soil, trees, crops and weeds. After clearing the mites in lactophenol fluid, the slides were made and then identified, In this research 23 species from 7 genera of the family phytoseiidae were collected in the western of Iran.28% of recorded mites were found in Markazi province and the most mites recorded were collected in soil. The highest mite numbers were observed in the altitude range (1500-2000 m). Subfamily Typlodrominae were found at lower temperature than the subfamily Amblyseiinae.
