"Kim Simmonds /Savoy Brown are the epitome of what was... and should always be. Deep-rooted, pure, artistic, manifesto, virtuoso, everlasting... these are the components that should land Kim Simmonds in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Savoy Brown is genuine rock and roll heritage." --Examiner.com

Acclaimed band Savoy Brown, led by its seminal guitarist Kim Simmonds, celebrates its 50th anniversary year with the release of a new album of original material called THE DEVIL TO PAY and a worldwide concert tour to support it. The album arrives on September 18 from Ruf Records while the tour, launching this month, will continue throughout the year and include shows in the U.S., Canada and Europe.

The band will celebrate the release of THE DEVIL TO PAY with a special CD release appearance at B.B. King Blues Club in New York City on September 15.

"When I started the band back in 1965, the concept was to be a British version of a band," Simmonds says. "And the exciting thing now is that vision is still alive."

With THE DEVIL TO PAY, featuring Simmonds on guitar, harmonica and vocals, Pat DeSalvo on bass and Garnet Grimm on drums (who also comprise the touring band), Savoy Brown continues to showcase Simmonds' love of the blues, his deep commitment to the sound and his quest to challenge himself in both his songwriting and playing. Written and produced by the guitarist (who also sings and plays harmonica) and recorded at SubCat Studios in upstate New York, the CD opens with the smoldering "Ain't Got Nobody" and continues with the barreling "Bad Weather Brewing," "Grew Up In The Blues" and "Oh Rosa." The album is highlighted by his dexterous guitar work on cuts like the finger-twist instrumental "Snakin'," the shuffle- powered "Watch My Woman" and his emotional songwriting, from the bleary repentance of a hangover on "I've Been Drinking" to the reprimand issued to a cheating woman on "Stop Throwing Your Love Around."

The driving force behind Savoy Brown, Simmonds taught himself to play guitar after falling in love with blues, R&B and rock through listening to his older brother's records. In 1965, as a teenager, he formed Savoy Brown in the first wave of - boomers, signing to Decca, opening for Cream's first show at Klooks Kleek and being name-dropped in the same breath as peers like Jimi Hendrix (with whom he jammed) and Eric Clapton.

Savoy Brown emerged during a golden age for blues bands that spawned the likes of , The Yardbirds, 's Bluesbreakers and many more. In addition to its dynamic live appearances, Savoy Brown gained acclaim from its records, including Savoy gems like "A Hard Way to Go" (from 1970's Raw Sienna) and "Tell Mama" (from 1971's ) as well as "" (from the 1972 album of the same name).

Throughout Savoy Brown's career, the band has featured a number of well respected musicians, among them , and , who went on to form , as well as players who have also been members of The Robert Cray Band, , , Fleetwood Mac and others. Throughout, Simmonds has always remained true to his roots and reaped the rewards, performing in iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall and the Fillmore East and West, releasing countless , and later enjoying a well-deserved induction into Hollywood's Rock Walk Of Fame, New York's Blues Hall of Fame and Ontario's Blues Hall of Fame.

However, he has hardly been resting on his laurels. He continues to tour and record, including the recent Savoy Brown CD releases: the critically acclaimed VOODOO MOON (2011). GOIN' TO THE DELTA (2014) and the double live CD/DVD set SONG FROM THE ROAD (2013). THE DEVIL TO PAY is his 45th album release.

Kim also performs solo gigs and has found creative expression as a painter. His Van Gogh-ish patterns of guitar "still-lifes" have attracted the interest of quite a few galleries. One of his guitar paintings adorns the album cover of his solo venture, "Out of The Blue."

"Do I have anything left to prove?" asks Kim. "Perhaps not to other people, but to myself, yes. There's always, inside of you, a song not written or a new guitar lick waiting to come out. I still have the drive I had when was I was young, and that keeps the dream going." * * * * *
