We are excited to create a unique video that resonates with the [adult swim] brand while drawing advertisers at the upfront conference. Our 6-minute upfront presentation takes the format of a “singles” dating video tape that adopts [adult swim]’s offbeat visual style. The video features key 2017 [adult swim] talent breaking the 4th wall and delivering a message directly to the audience. The characters - from Rick Sanchez to Dr. Blake Downs - will compete to seduce, sell, and whore themselves out to the audience. Not for dates... but for ad revenue. [adult swim] 2017 Upfront January 16, 2017 Page 3 Narrative The video opens like a series of straightforward dating pitches. The eligible “singles” introduce themselves, announce their availability, and reveal their likes, dislikes and hobbies. As the video progresses, the profiles get wilder, the visuals get weirder, and the characters get more desperate to seduce the audience. Suddenly, the dating profiles become irresistible marketing ploys. The “singles” flirtatiously throw out statistics like: “Adult Swim is the #1 network for P18- 34,” or “We’ve got the highest-rated programming for very late night.” Visually, a character might lift up his shirt to reveal a tattoo of an [adult swim] statistic, or exhale a plume of smoke that becomes a marketing-driven message. [adult swim] 2017 Upfront January 16, 2017 Page 4 Design The overall packaging for the video will be stylized, bold, and graphic. The look will encompass both animated and live action segments. All [adult swim] characters will be presented in the same, cohesive visual style. We would use a limited vivid color pallette for each individual character profile. Copy, key stats and messages will animate on screen in fun and engaging ways. Digital streaming channels can be represented through their own profiles (ie. talking fish head, etc) or visuals and title treatments. Music (AS Singles) and on-site fan experiences can be communicated through visuals and typography. The marketing and sales messages can be integrated into the profiles in seamless, fun ways through dialogue and visuals. • Humor. The “singles” video lends itself to [adult swim]’s famous alt-cringe humor style. We will work hand-in-hand with [adult swim] sales, creative, and show creators to ensure the video is entertaining and communicates the message clearly. • Flexibility. The different profiles allow us to mix animation with live action, and to incorporate various visual and music choices. • Modularity. We can choose as many characters as we want, and the profiles can be arranged in any order. We can build a schedule around the availability of the show creators. • Updatability. Last minute changes to the copy/ script can be easily incorporated. The concept is then storyboarded, and an animatic will be created to establish pacing and overall structure of the video. We will work with [adult swim]’s sales team and show creators to incorporate feedback and ensure the video is on point and communicates clearly. Once the general flow is established, the full assets will be created and/or filmed. Music and sound effects can begin in the early phase of animation so the presentations can include sound with picture. We can explore integrating the beats or music into the actual profiles, or having some of the characters sing to the audience.
