Kia ora whānau Upcoming Events It’s hard to believe we are half way through the term already. We have managed to keep ourselves pretty busy so far, and looking at the calendar, Term 3 we won’t be stopping until the end of the term! School Choir Performance The seniors in particular will be busy with the Greerton Village Sports Baycourt Theatre, exchange, Snow Camp and Winter Sports. Thursday 29 August, 7.00pm Maths-a-thon We are also getting ready of our “Art Exhibition” on Wednesday September Tuesday 3 September 18th. Our aim for this afternoon is to have an “Open Class” from 5:00pm to 5:30pm for parents to come in and see what is going on in their child’s Hell’s Gate Trip classroom and then the hall will be open from 5:30pm for you to enjoy some Thursday 5 September of their wonderful art work. BOT Meeting Monday 9 September Hopefully there has been lots of extra maths going on at home in readiness for our Maths-a-thon next week - Wednesday 3rd September. We have had Greerton Village Sports Exchange quite a few children coming in to ask for a “harder sheet” which is great to Thursday 12 September see. Open Classes 5:00pm Art Exhibition 5.30pm Our dress-up day last week was a lot of fun with the majority of our children Wednesday 18 September and staff taking part in support of our choir. This musical group of children Tūhua Assembly & Mini Market are spending all of tomorrow (Thursday) at Bayfair getting ready for their big Friday 20 September performance in the evening. They had a dress rehearsal in front of our whole school on Monday and they were amazing! We are so lucky to have such Year 6 Snow Camp talented music teachers as Mrs Wright and Mrs Bradley to bring this group 23 - 25 September together. Year 5/6 Winter Sports Day Thursday 26 September You will all be aware by now, we have an out of school holiday programme starting at School in the Term 3 holidays (Monday 30th September - Last Day of Term 3 Friday 11th October). Board of Trustees Update Kia ora koutou katoa Our main focus this term has been on principal appointment. Our advertisement generated a lot of interest and the process is progressing well. We expect to be in a position to confirm the appointment before the end of this term. Other ongoing projects for our board members and school leadership team include developing priorities for our next 5YA plan for Property funding entitlement, and consulting with our Maori whanau on our Hautu review regarding developing our cultural responsiveness as a school. Dance Competition - Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November The Dance Centre, 188 Kent St, Frankton, Hamilton

Students aged 6-17 years, for Hip Hop, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz dance, Tap, and Musical Theatre.

All the dance has to be choreographed entirely by the students who perform. You can dance in solos, duos, trios, crews.

There are also dance creativity workshops (21 September, 5 October, 19 October, 26 October) to help prepare for the competition.
