Archon Eddie N. Williams is president of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a 25-year-old think tank that focuses on issues of concern to African Americans and to the nation as a whole. Before becoming chief executive officer of the Joint Center in 1972, he was vice president for public affairs at the University of Chicago where he also directed the institution's Center for Policy Study.

Archon Williams was inducted into Epsilon Bould in 1983 and served as Sire Archon in 1993 and 1994. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Boul6 Foundation and a member of the Investment Committee.

Throughout his career, Archon Williams, a native Memphian, has played leadership roles in several fields: the U.S. Army, journalism, international affairs, and civil rights. His successful leadership of the Joint Center and of efforts to expand black political empowerment earned him the prestigious MacArthur Foundation "Genius Award" in 1988. He is vice chairman of the Black Leadership Forum, an organization of 17 national civil rights and public service organizations, and is chairman of the Pew Partnerships for Civic Change, a foundation which supports innovations in social services.

Archon Williams has received numerous honors and awards, including the Congressional Black Caucus Adam Clayton Powell Award, Washingtonian of the Year, University of Illinois Alumni of the Year Award, and Ebony magazine's "100+ Most Influential Black Americans" citation. He has authored many articles and he is an occasional political analyst on the McNeil-Lehrer NewsHour.

His board memberships include: LeMoyne-Owen College, Public/Private Ventures, National Opinion Research Center, National Coalition on Black Voter Participation, Riggs National Bank of Washington, D.C., Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., and Blue Cross-Blue Shield of the National Capital Area. He is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Archon Williams received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism at the University of Illinois, and he attended graduate school in Political Science at and Howard Universities. He holds honorary degrees from Bowie State University (Doctor of Humane Letters), University of the District of Columbia (Doctor of Laws), and Chicago State University (Doctor of Humane Letters).

Archousa Jearline F. Williams, a native of Oklahoma and a graduate of George Washington University, is executive director of the Washington, D.C. Office on Aging and is active in a number of civic, professional, and social circles.

Archon and Archousa Williams have three children: Traci (Halima) Williams is co-artistic director of The Living Stage Theater in Washington; Edward Williams is Chairman of the Wind and Horn Departments and horn instructor at Peabody Preparatory/Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md.; and Terence Reddick is a recent graduate of the William and Mary Law School.

Archon Eddie N. Williams was featured on the cover of the Spring 1995 Bould Journal (other side) for his article on "Politics in the 1990s." The article showed Archon Williams on the set of the McNeil/Lehrer NewsHour and with First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton. He also was the keynote speaker at the 11th Northeast Regional Convention on September 30, 1995 and was the co-keynoter with Judge Wiley Branton, Jr. at the Western Regional Convention in Little Rock, Arkansas, on October 7, 1995. Archon Eddie N. Williams is president of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a 25-year- old think tank that focuses on issues of con- cern to African Americans and to the nation as a whole. Before becoming chief execu- tive officer of the Joint Center in 1972, he was vice president for public affairs at the University of Chicago where he also directed the institution's Center for Policy Study.

Archon Williams was inducted into Epsilon Boule in 1983 and served as Sire Archon in 1993 and 1994. He is a member of the board of directors of the Boul6 Foundation, and he has served on several advisory bodies created by Grand Sire Archons over the past decade.

Throughout his career, Archon Williams, a native Memphian, has played leadership roles in several fields: the U.S. Army, journalism, international af- fairs, and civil rights. His successful leahr- ship of the Joint Center and of efforts to ex- pand black political empowerment earned him the prestigious MacArthur Foundation "Genius Award" in 1988. He has been elected to the boards of several non-profit and for- profit corporations. He is secretary-treasurer of the Black Leadership Forum, an organiza- tion of 17 national civil rights and public ser- vice organizations, and is chairman of the Pew Partnerships for Civic Change, a foun- dation which supports innovations in social services.

Archon Williams has received numerous honors and awards, including the Congressional Black Caucus Adam Clayton Powell Award, Wash- ingtonian of the Year, University of Illinois Alumni of the Year Award, and Ebony magazine's "100+ Most Influential Black Americans" citation. He has authored many articles and he is an occasional po- litical analyst on the McNeil-Lehrer NewsHour.

Archousa Jearline F. Williams is executive director of the Washington, D.C. Office on Aging and is active in a number of civic, professional, and social circles.

Archon and Archousa Williams have three children: Traci (Halima) Williams is co-artistic director of The Living Stage Theater in Washington; Edward Williams is Chairman of the Wind and Horn Departments and horn instructor at Peabody Preparatory/Peabody Institute, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md.; and Terence Reddick is a recent graduate of the William and Mary Law School.
