ATLANTA ROUND-TRIP Indians, Dollywood and Music Driving Distance 1670 Driving Miles Driving Time: 42 Hours Approx Recommended Trip 19 Days Day 1 Arrive in Atlanta, Georgia, check into an hotel, relax and adjust to the time change. Day 2 Pick up your motorhome and begin to explore this magnificent city. Day 3 The entire day to explore the Atlanta area. Visit Six Flags Over Georgia, the Atlanta History Center, Martin Luther King National Historic Site, the World of Coca-Cola, the Peachtree Center, the Telephone Museum, Atlanta Heritage Row, and the CNN Studios. Spend another night at one of the KOAs in the Atlanta area. Day 4 Enjoy the drive from Atlanta to Cherokee, North Carolina. Check into the Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA which is located on the Qualla Boundary Cherokee Indian Reservation in the southeastern part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Day 5 The entire day to explore the Cherokee area. Visit the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, and the Oconaluftee Indian Village featuring the magnificent Cherokee Botanical Gardens. Spend another night at the Cherokee/Great Smokies KOA. Day 6 Enjoy the drive on New Found Gap Road through Great Smoky Mountains National Park from Cherokee to Pigeon Forge, North Carolina. Check into the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg KOA which is located just above the central part of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Day 7 The entire day to explore the Pigeon Forge area. Visit the water powered Old Mill, which has continuously ground flour since 1830; Dollywood, the entertainment park operated by Dolly Parton, and the Pigeon Forge Pottery. In Gatlinburg enjoy the American Historical Wax Museum, Christus Gardens, and the Guinness World Records Museum. Take a ride on the Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway or the Gatlinburg Sky Lift which offer nice views of the area. Spend another night at the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg KOA. Day 8 Enjoy the drive from Pigeon Forge to Nashville, Tennessee, the country music capital. Check into one of the Nashville KOA and begin to explore this wonderful city. Day 9 The entire day to enjoy the many attractions of Nashville. Visit Opryland U.S.A. home of the Grand Ole Opry radio show, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Tennessee State Museum, the Upper Room Chapel and Museum, the Belle Meade Plantation, and the Belmont Mansion. Spend another night at a KOA in the Nashville area. Day 10 Continue to explore Nashville. Spend one more night at the Nashville KOA. Day 11 Enjoy the drive from Nashville to Memphis, Tennessee and check into one of the KOA Kampgrounds in the Memphis area. Day 12 The entire day to explore the Memphis area. Visit Elvis Presley's Graceland, Mud Island, the Pyramid, Overton Park, Holly Springs, Memorial Park, and Lichterman Nature Center. Spend another night at one of the Memphis KOAs. Day 13 Drive from Memphis to Meridian, Mississippi and check into the local KOA. Day 14 Enjoy the drive from Meridian to New Orleans, Louisiana. Check into one of the KOA Kampgrounds in the New Orleans area. Day 15 The entire day to explore the New Orleans area. Visit Rivertown, Bourbon Street, The Cabildo, Jackson Square, the French Quarter, Washington Artillery Park, Moon Walk, Preservation Hall, St. Louis Cathedral, the French Market, Blaine Kern's Mardi Gras World, the Presbytère, and the Gallier House. Spend another night at a New Orleans KOA. Day 16 Continue to explore the many splendors of New Orleans. Spend one more night at one of the KOAs in New Orleans. Day 17 Enjoy the drive from New Orleans to Birmingham, Alabama and check into the Birmingham South KOA. Day 18 The entire day to explore the Birmingham area. Visit the Vulcan statue atop Red Mountain, Arlington, Discovery 2000, Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Birmingham Museum of Art, the Southern Museum of Flight, and Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark. Spend another night at the Birmingham South KOA. Day 19 Enjoy the drive from Birmingham back to Atlanta. Return your motorhome and enjoy your journey home. .
