lil yachty lil yachty teenage emotions album download A Conversation With the Designer Behind Lil Yachty’s ‘Teenage Emotions’ Album Cover. Earlier today (April 20), Lil Yachty unveiled the cover art for his debut album, Teenage Emotions, featuring people from all walks of life sitting in what appears to be a movie theater. In front of him, a girl afflicted with vitiligo sits laughing, while behind him a gay couple make out. The cover's already being lauded online for its inclusive slant, and on Instagram Live, Lil Boat discussed the inspiration behind it: "If you have vitiligo or if you're gay or whatever it is, embrace yourself. Love yourself. Be happy, positive." Legendary photographer Kenneth Cappello shot the cover and graphic designer Mihailo Andic, who handled Yachty's logo and did the covers for both Lil Boat and Summer Songs 2, designed it. We spoke to Andic, 23, about how he started working with Yachty, how the cover came together and which of Yachty's friends are featured on the cover. Below are excerpts from our conversation. XXL : How'd you first start working with Yachty? Mihailo Andic: That was actually right before the Lil Boat mixtape came out. This is one of my favorite stories. It was just one day before Valentine's Day and one of my brother's friends came over to our house and was catching up with me when he said, "You should listen to this guy named Lil Yachty." And this was before he had any songs popping. "1 Night" and "Minnesota" were out but he didn't have the tape out, so I was like okay, I'll check him out.

  • Aesthetic Play and Bad Intent
Article Aesthetic Play and Bad Intent Andrew J. Kerr† Threatening words or images are assumed by American courts to be non-art. But this threshold question of art status is complicated by the evolution of rap and performance art. There is no articulable way to discern art from non-art for these non- textual media, a problem compounded in the unique context of the Internet. In civil litigation we can resort to institutionalist tests like audience reception. But mens rea matters in criminal prosecution. I favor judicial pragmatism in what I argue here is a very non-legal area of law. I. INTRODUCTION In March 2016, Compton rapper YG released the single, “FDT”, shorthand for “fuck Donald Trump,” as a critical response to the then Republican primary challenger. The track was rec- orded in about an hour,1 and eventually became a summer an- them because of its political appeal.2 VICE Media’s Noisey pub- lication celebrated it as the best track of 2016. Some of the lyrics are rote and predictable. Still, it possesses a vital energy and contains several clever lines, such as the couplet: “Reagan sold coke / Obama sold hope.”3 Any rap fan would recognize the song † Lecturer of Legal English, Georgetown University Law Center. • 'And I Swear...' – Profanity in Pop Music Lyrics on the American Billboard Charts 2009-2018 and the Effect on Youtube Popularity
INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SCIENTIFIC & TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH VOLUME 9, ISSUE 02, FEBRUARY 2020 ISSN 2277-8616 'And I Swear...' – Profanity In Pop Music Lyrics On The American Billboard Charts 2009-2018 And The Effect On Youtube Popularity Martin James Moloney, Hanifah Mutiara Sylva Abstract: The Billboard Chart tracks the sales and popularity of popular music in the United States of America. Due to the cross-cultural appeal of the music, the Billboard Chart is the de facto international chart. A concern among cultural commentators was the prevalence of swearing in songs by artists who were previously regarded as suitable content for the youth or ‗pop‘ market. The researchers studied songs on the Billboard Top 10 from 2009 to 2018 and checked each song for profanities. The study found that ‗pop‘, a sub-genre of ‗popular music‘ did contain profanities; the most profane genre, ‗Hip-hop/Rap‘ accounted for 76% of swearing over the ten-year period. A relationship between amount of profanity and YouTube popularity was moderately supported. The researchers recommended adapting a scale used by the British television regulator Ofcom to measure the gravity of swearing per song. Index Terms: Billboard charts, popularity, profanity, Soundcloud, swearing, YouTube. —————————— —————————— 1 INTRODUCTION Ipsos Mori [7] the regulator of British television said that profane language fell into two main categories: (a) general 1.1 The American Billboard Charts and ‘Hot 100’ swear words and those with clear links to body parts, sexual The Billboard Chart of popular music was first created in 1936 references, and offensive gestures; and (b) specifically to archive the details of sales of phonographic records in the discriminatory language, whether directed at older people, United States [1].

  • Kodak Black’S 2016 XXL Freshman Interview and Freestyle By: XXL Staff June 20, 2016
Watch Kodak Black’s 2016 XXL Freshman Interview and Freestyle By: XXL Staff June 20, 2016 Once an artist claims to be better than both Biggie and Tupac, hip-hop fans take notice. Kodak Black did just that during his interview for his spot on the 2016 XXL Freshman Class cover. “I’m bigger than Tupac and Biggie,” the 19-year-old Pompano Beach, Fla. native states. Earlier this month, Kodak dropped the fittingly titled mixtape, Lil B.I.G. Pac, a collection of tracks showcasing his growth since dropping previous projects like Project Baby, Heart of the Projects and Institution. It’s obvious the “SKRT” rapper knows a thing or two about staying productive considering he’s remained consistent with new material. “People just see like the shine, they don’t see the grind,” Kodak shares. Anyone familiar with his solo efforts or his guest appearances on tracks like French Montana’s “Lockjaw” know Kodak has a unique place in the game when it comes to his presence on the mic. “I got this voice from the lord I guess,” he continues. “I could just ride the beat any type of way, switch it up on it, come back with some other shit.” Songs like “Slayed,” off Lil B.I.G. Pac, serve as an example of Kodak’s delivery. Before the tape was out for the masses to hear, the Snipergang leader decided to use those same lyrics from the track for his 2016 XXL Freshman freestyle. “Hell yeah they call me Kodak but I ain’t come to take no picture/So icy, make it blizzard, and the lean I’m sippin’ sizzurp,” he rhymes.

  • Does Emo Rap Makes You Less Emo? the Influence of Emo-Rap on Young Adults’ Emotions
Does emo rap makes you less emo? The influence of emo-rap on young adults’ emotions. Author: Christiaan van der Weijden Student number: 10625224 Master’s thesis Graduate School of Communication Master’s programme Communication Science Supervisor: Susanne Baumgartner Date: 26-6-2019 Abstract Emo-rap is currently gaining more and more popularity, especially among emerging adults. Taking into account the lack of research about this genre, the relationship between emo-rap and emerging adults’ emotions will be studied. Contrary to popular belief, sad music can also induce happy emotions among listeners. This study will research if this also holds for emo-rap. An online experiment (N=170) was conducted, with a 2 emotional valence (happy vs. sad) x 2 music genre (rap vs. pop) factorial design. After inducing sad mood, emerging adults had to listen to one of four songs. Results show that music in general lead to more happiness among participants, when in a sad mood. In contrast to the predictions, happy music lead to more happiness than sad music. Moreover, a high preference for the heard genre made participants happier than a low genre preference, when in a sad mood. 2 Introduction Nowadays, hip-hop and rap music are gaining more and more popularity, especially among adolescents and young adults (Statista, n.d.) in the Netherlands (NPO, 2018) and the United States (Nielsen, 2018). One could argue that these genres have become pop-music, regarding the presence of numerous rap and hip-hop songs in major Spotify charts. One of the popular sub-genres is called emo-rap, with Lil Uzi Vert and the late XXXTENTACION as one of the most popular right now.

And what a year it was! The year had barely begun when we were already saying goodbye to musical heroes gone far too soon. David Bowie, Paul Kantner, Glenn Frey, Leon Russell, Maurice White, Prince, Juan Gabriel, George Michael, Sharon Jones... the list goes on. And yet, while sad 2016 became a meme of its own, there is so much for the industry to celebrate. Music consumption is at an all-time high. Overall volume is up 3% over 2016, fueled by a 76% increase in on-demand audio streams, enough to offset declines in sales and return a positive year for the business. Nearly 650 solo artists, groups and collaborators appeared on the Top 200 Song Consumption chart in 2016, representing over 1,200 different songs. The rapid changes in technology and distribution channels are changing the way we discover and engage with content. Reaction times are shorter and current events ERIN CRAWFORD can have an instant impact on consumption. The last Presidential debate had SVP ENTERTAINMENT barely finished when there was an increase in streaming activity for Janet Jackson’s & GM MUSIC “Nasty.” The day after the news broke about Prince’s passing, over 1 million of his songs were downloaded. When a Florida teen set his #mannequinchallenge to “Black Beatles,” the song rocketed up the charts.

  • Neuroimaging Studies on Familiarity of Music in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Neuroimaging Studies on Familiarity of Music in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder by Carina Patricia De Barros Freitas A thesis submitted in conformity with the requirements for the degree of Degree of Philosophy Institute of Medical Science University of Toronto © Copyright by Carina Patricia De Barros Freitas 2020 Neuroimaging Studies on Familiarity of Music in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Carina Patricia De Barros Freitas Doctor of Philosophy Institute of Medical Science University of Toronto 2020 Abstract The field of music neuroscience allows us to use music to investigate human cognition in vivo. Examining how brain processes familiar and unfamiliar music can elucidate underlying neural mechanisms of several cognitive processes. To date, familiarity in music listening and its neural correlates in typical adults have been investigated using a variety of neuroimaging techniques, yet the results are inconsistent. In addition, these correlates and respective functional connectivity related to music familiarity in typically developing (TD) children and children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are unknown. The present work consists of two studies. The first one reviews and qualitatively synthesizes relevant literature on the neural correlates of music familiarity, in healthy adult populations, using different neuroimaging methods. Then it estimates the brain areas most active when listening to familiar and unfamiliar musical excerpts using a coordinate-based meta-analyses technique of neuroimaging data. We established that motor brain structures were consistently active during familiar music listening. The activation of these motor-related areas could reflect audio-motor synchronization to elements of the music, such as rhythm and melody, so that one can tap, dance and “covert” sing along with a known song.
