It’s been a banner year, and we’re ending it on a high note with The Holiday Auction (featuring the greatest selection of Chartreuse ever brought to market) and the Black Tie Collection. First, the multivendor. The cornerstone of this auction is The Collector’s Vision (Lots 69-511) a phe- nomenal collection of wine starting with verticals of First Growth Bordeaux and ending in DRC, Jayer, and d’Auvenay. Later, Lots 525-600 are an offering of one of the great DRC offerings in this sale, and includes six bottles of Romanée-Conti back to 1998. This auction also includes a selection from La Fête du Champagne (Lots 1073-1081), the proceeds of which will help fund a scholarship to Champagne for a lucky sommelier, to be accompanied by Daniel Johnnes and Peter Liem. At the end of this catalog is an unprecedented selection of Chartreuse (Lots 1209-1254), the likes of which have never been seen before—and will likely never be seen again. From a consignor who grew up in Voiron, not far from where Chartreuse has historically been made, this offering includes a vast selection of the spirit, from Chartreuse, to Tarragone, to “une Tarragone,” to even rare Liquidatreuses Cusenier. This offering spans the entirety of the 20th-century—I’ve never seen anything like it. All of the bottles in this offering have been photographed, and please reach out to us for addi- tional photos or for physical inspection of these bottles. And, of course, part of this 2-day auction is the Black Tie Collection, which has its own catalog. Similar to our March auction, this catalog will take you through day 1 and the morning of day 2. When this catalog ends, at roughly 1pm on Saturday, we will begin the Black Tie Collection. It has been a truly amazing year here at Zachys. Please keep an eye out for our annual “year in review,” which we’ll be sending out at the top of 2020 (along with a catalog for our February 12 auction). But as I sit writing this introduction in October, I feel comfortable saying that 2019 is going to be a record for us, and I can’t wait to see what 2020 brings.
