Will be held within fourteen months of the previous AGM AGM The committee shall meet not less than six times per year, in addition to the AGM and other general meetings. The committee will keep its members informed through Representation public meetings and by issuing flyers/leaflets. A statement of intent has been agreed by the committee on how the group aims to engage with its members. An action plan has been drafted and agreed by the committee which outlines the priorities of the group over the Activities of the Group coming year. (Please note priorities may be subject to change. Members will uphold equal opportunities and work towards good relations amongst all members of the community, especially prohibiting any conduct that discriminates or Equal Opportunities harasses on the grounds of race, religion, disability, political beliefs, sex, or sexual orientation. The group has successfully lobbied for new heating, CCTV security, caretaker services and the redecoration of communal areas. The group have worked in partnership Activities of the Group with NAC to convert the ground floor drying area in O’Connor Court into a permanent resident meeting room. Members of this group regularly contribute to a number of working groups with NAC staff All are welcome to take part. The organisation shall be non-racist, non-political, and non-sectarian in nature.     North Ayrshire Research Briefing: Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2020 Main Points • North Ayrshire is the 5th most deprived Council area in Scotland (as in 2016) • 52 (28%) of North Ayrshire’s 186 data zones are in the 15% most deprived in Scotland (compared to 51 (27%) in 2016) • Deprivation is concentrated in The Three Towns and Irvine locality areas but Kilwinning and the Garnock Valley also have above average deprivation • North Ayrshire deprivation is mainly concentrated on the employment, income and health domains Background The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation (SIMD) has been published by the Scottish Government every three or four years since 2004. An updated (sixth) version was published on 28 January 2020. The SIMD offers an opportunity to assess relative deprivation across Scotland. Analysis is at data zone level of which there are 186 in North Ayrshire (average 727 population/344 households per data zone). All 6,976 Scottish data zones are ranked in order of relative deprivation. As such it is important to recognise that the SIMD does not measure absolute deprivation. Even if areas improve over time there will always be a “most deprived” data zone and there will continue to be 1,046 data zones in the 15% most deprived in Scotland. Indeed over time deprivation has become less concentrated in the major cities with a consequent increase in relative deprivation in other parts of Scotland. As well as an overall deprivation rank the SIMD provides a breakdown by seven ‘domains’ - income, employment, education, health, crime, housing and access. SIMD 2020 - Key Results 52 of North Ayrshire’s 186 data zones are in the 15% most deprived in Scotland, 1 more than in 2016.

We have therefore published this updated edition on-line to ensure people interested in Ayrshire’s birds (locals and visitors) can find out the best locations to watch our birds. To keep the size of the document to a minimum we have removed the numerous photographs that were in the original. The on- line edition was first published in November 2005. Introduction This booklet is a guide to the best birding locations in Ayrshire and Arran. It has been produced by the Ayrshire branch of the SOC with help from individuals, local organisations and authorities. It should be used in conjunction with our website (www.ayrshire-birding.org.uk) which gives extra details. Additions and corrections can be reported via the website. The defining influences on Ayrshire as an environment for birds and other wildlife are its very long coast-line (135km not counting islands), and the fact that it lies almost entirely in the rift valley between the Highland Boundary Fault and the Southern Upland Fault. Exceptions to this generally lowland character are the mountains of north Arran, our own little bit of the Highlands, and the moorlands and hills of the south and south-east fringes of the county. The mild climate has resulted in a mainly pastoral agriculture and plenty of rivers and lochs, making it good for farmland and water birds.

    PE1209/H PE1209: Bourtreehill Estate 14.04.09 For the Committee, The conclusion of the last meeting was that my report should be sent to the three statutory bodies (West of Scotland Archaeology Service, Historic Scotland, National Trust for Scotland) for analysis. If, on review of my work, they found nothing to substantiate the contents, the petition would be (understandably) closed down. The WEST OF SCOTLAND ARCHAEOLOGY SERVICE has confirmed that Bourtreehill Estate is considerably older than previously thought and acknowledged that Robert the Bruce was connected to the estate in the manner indicated in my first report. They wrote in their initial detailed response: It is reasonable to assume therefore that Robert the Bruce was making a similar allocation of confiscated land at Bourtreehill as was made at Perceton. But their latest response (“I am happy to agree that there is a “Bruce connection” in that Robert the Bruce issued a charter which mentions Bourtreehill”) will hopefully be enough to carry the petition forward. I should add that while the name of the estate only just gets a mention on the charter, it was nonetheless entirely focused on the joint lands of Bourtreehill and Stane and was, in every respect, a charter for the lands and tenants of Bourtreehill and Stane. In addition to their agreement, WSAS have also added: “It is known that the lands of Cunninghame were once owned by the de Morville family and passed through succession to John Balliol”. This is no small matter, as I intend to demonstrate in my forthcoming book. The High Constables of Scotland were the Hereditary Lords of Cunninghame.
