ABSTRACT Labour 1 ABSTRACT Labour –Tamil Nadu Artists Welfare Board under section 6 of the Tamil Nadu Manual workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act 1982-Nomination of Additional Members representing manual workers-Notification - Orders-Issued. O R D E R: In the G.O. first read above, the Government established the Tamil Nadu Artists Welfare Board with effect from 1.9.2006. 2. In the G.O second read above, the Government have issued notification for nomination of the Chairman and Members to the Tamil Nadu Artists Welfare Board; and the notification was published in Tamil Nadu Government Gazette on 05.09.2007. 3. The State President, Tamil Nadu Artist Union, Chennai, in his Letter third read above, has represented the Government for inclusion of some of its representatives as additional members for the Tamil Nadu Artists Welfare Board. 4. The Government have examined the representation of the State President, Tamil Nadu Artists Union and decided to nominate the following seven (7) members as representatives of manual workers in addition to the members already nominated to the Tamil Nadu Artists Welfare Board. 1) Thiru M.Sathyanarayanan, Tamil Nadu Artists Union, 148,Valluvar Kottam High Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-600 034. 2) Thiru V.Raghavan, Tamil Nadu Artists Union, 148,Valluvar Kottam High Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-600 034. 3) Thiru B.Kathirvel, Tamil Nadu Artists Union, 148,Valluvar Kottam High Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai-600 034. 4) Thiru E.K. Accordingly the appended Notification will be published in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette both in English and Tamil. The Works Manager, Government Central Press, Chennai is requested to send 20 copies of the Gazette to the Government and 20 copies to the Commissioner of Labour, Chennai-6. 6. The Secretary, Tamil Development, Religious Endowments and Information (Translations) Department will furnish the Tamil version of the Notification to the Works Manager, Government Central Press, Chennai for publication in the Gazette. 7. The non-official members nominated to the Board in this order shall hold office for a period of two years commencing on and from the date on which his appointment is first notified in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, as per sub-rule (2) of rule 19 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Rules, 1986. 8. The members shall be treated as officers of First Class Committee for the purpose of Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance. In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 6 of the Tamil Nadu Manual Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Work) Act, 1982 (Tamil Nadu Act 33 of 1982), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Labour and Employment Department Notification No.II (2)/IE/541/2007, published at pages 349 and 350 of Part II – Section-2 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, dated the 5th September 2007. AMENDMENT In the said Notification, under the heading “C.     DISTRICT PROFILE - 2017 CHENNAI DISTRICT ORIGIN OF CHENNAI Chennai, originally known as Madras Patnam, was located in the province of Tondaimandalam, an area lying between Pennar river of Nellore and the Pennar river of Cuddalore. Following the independence of India, Chennai became the capital of Tamil Nadu and an important centre of regional politics that tended to bank on the Dravidian identity of the populace. According to the provisional results of 2011 census, the city had 4.68 million residents making it the sixth most populous city in India; the urban agglomeration, which comprises the city and its suburbs, was home to approximately 8.9 million, making it the fourth most populous metropolitan area in the country and 31st largest urban area in the world.
