The Order is dedicated to: insuring that America will always be preeminent in air and space—the encourage- ment of flight safety—fostering an esprit de corps in the military air forces—promoting the adoption of military service as a career—and aiding deserving young individuals in specialized higher education through the establishment of scholarships. THE DAEDALIAN FOUNDATION was incorporated in 1959 as a non-profit organization to carry on activities in furtherance of the ideals and purposes of the Order. The Foundation publishes the Daedalus Flyer and sponsors the Daedalian Scholarship Program. The Foundation is a GuideStar Exchange member. The Scholarship Program recognizes scholars who indicate a desire to become military pilots and pursue a career in the military. Other scholarships are presented to younger individuals interested in aviation but not enrolled in college. Voluntary contributions to the Foundation are used for these purposes. ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP in the Order of Daedalians is limited to: (1) Founder Members—those individuals of the Armed Services of the United States who held a commission and a rating of heavier- than-air pilot prior to November 12, 1918 (the last Founder Member made his last flight in 2003); (2) Named Members—those rated heavier-than-air pilot commissioned, warrant, flight officers or WASP, in a component of the United States Armed Services, named in honor of a Founder Member; (3) Hereditary Members—the descendants of Founder Members; (4) Honorary Members—A distinguished person not otherwise eligible for membership. Just a few years after the Daedalians were estab- lished in 1934, the Order’s leadership, who were most- ly all active duty, regularly concerned themselves with issues of long-term viability of the Order. A conscious decision was made that efforts to perpetuate the Order were necessary. There was an accepted realization that as it was, the Order would eventually pass away. The named membership category that we all enjoy today was not approved until 1953. ACTION REQUESTED Adopt and present a Resolution to Clarence Emil "Bud" Anderson for his outstanding service to his country and his community. BACKGROUND Colonel Anderson has over thirty years of military service, and was a test pilot at Wright Field where he also served as Chief of Fighter Operations. He also served at Edwards Air Force Base where he was Chief of Flight Test Operations and Deputy Director of Flight Test. Colonel Anderson served two tours at The Pentagon and commanded three fighter organizations. From June to December 1970, he commanded the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing, an F-105 Thunderchief unit, during its final months of service in the Vietnam War, and retired in March 1972. He was decorated twenty-five times for his service to the United States. After his retirement from active duty as a Colonel, he became the manager of the McDonnell Aircraft Company's Flight Test Facility at Edwards AFB, serving there until 1998. During his career, he flew over 100 types of aircraft, and logged over 7,000 hours. Anderson is possibly best known for his close friendship with General Chuck Yeager from World War II, where both served in the 35th Fighter Group, to the present. Yeager once called him "The best fighter pilot I ever saw".

Week ending December 1: It was a windy and cold week at EAA Chapter 14. But that didn’t stop a good group from enjoying Bill Browne’s delicious meal of make-your-own sandwiches, featuring roast beef, ham, turkey, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. Some chips and chocolate chip cookies rounded out the meal. Joe Russo and Gene Hubbard started working on the Stits Playboy project: wing frames were attached and the ailerons were taken off. Nice progress! Blueberry pancakes, waffles, sausage, and eggs, a popular breakfast for nearly 40 people on a third Saturday. 12/15 busy event. Kevin Roche had a constant waiting line as he prepared blueberry pancakes, sausage, and eggs.
