Schulz Page | 2 Club Fraser - Spokes Triathlon News General Update -While the water is still a bit cold here in Michigan, club members are either finding other types of events or traveling out of state in search of a good time! Club Members have competed in the IMTX 70.3 in Galveston, the Boston Marathon, Fisk Knob TT, Knoxville TN Tri and taken on the Martian Races in Dearborn. Even had 2 members run 100 miles! Team Green Invasion of Motor City Tri: Motor City Triathlon on Belle Isle will be our Triathlon invasion event of 2013. If you've never been to one, it's a great way to connect with other members of the Club both in Triathlon and the other Cycling Disciplines. Even if you're not racing please come down and cheer on your fellow Team Green Members! With the season just starting out - a number of club members took on the Willow Time Trail and the Metro Grand Spring Tour. Tech Tip for all Disciplines Upcoming Events – Road/Touring As we are getting into race and riding season and time in the saddle is starting to increase, now is the time May 5th (Sunday) Metro Grand Spring Tour (New when you want to review your on-bike comfort. Cold and snow made for a difficult race but Team Green was well represented with about 7 riders beating the cold to complete the race! (And even the ladies getting involved (You go Ann and Diane!). Race day for the Yankee Springs Time Trial was a lot better even though snow was falling the day prior! It was the first outing for the Moore’s new Motorhome (to keep the MTB Teams fleet growing) with a number of club members camping together the night before. Now all eyes turn the 6 & 12 Hour Race at Stony Creek Metropark sponsored by Club Fraser! (May 11th). This is an all day event (12 hour race starts at 8am with the 6 hour race starting at 2pm – both end at 8pm). If you are interested in mountain bike racing, this is a great opportunity to get together at team (can have up to 4 riders) and rides a loop or two at Stony and maybe even gets a prize or two! Otherwise if you are in the area, stop by the Mountain Bike Trails/West Branch at Parking Area ‘C’ and look for the Club Fraser compound! Mentorship Program We are in the process of formalizing a mentorship program to share our collective (Triathlon) knowledge and help our fellow Club Members. We are still working through the details on how this will be organized, but if you would like to be involved please contact one of the Tri-Captains. Tour De Ford For this Sept. 15th ride, Club Fraser will be providing resources to help with Course Marshalling and other Start/Finish activities. Mark this on your calendar! More information to come!
