Built in a limestone quarry, Fiesta Texas opened in 1992, a project of Opryland’s parent company. Fiesta Texas was designed to be a show park as a way to differentiate the park from ride-oriented parks like Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags AstroWorld. Since joining the Six Flags family in 1996, Fiesta Texas has built up a solid collection of coasters and rides. The park’s coaster lineup includes Batman: The Ride, the original 4-D Free Spin coaster from S&S Worldwide; 2000’s Super- man Krypton Coaster, a B&M floorless; and Goliath, a B&M inverted coaster. Of particular note: Iron Rattler. It opened as Rattler in 1992, a Roller Coaster Corporation of America coaster designed by John Pierce. For the 2013 season, RMC transformed it into Iron Rattler, which quickly became popular with enthusiasts.

The San Antonio park, the largest park in the SeaWorld chain, opened in 1988. ZDT’s opened in 2007, a family-friendly destination owned by the Donhauser family. The name comes from the first letters of the names of the owners’ three children. Honoring the property’s previous use as an agricultural and grocery center, many of the park’s buildings were repurposed from their original uses. DIRECTIONS To La Quinta Inn & Suites San Antonio Medical Center from San Antonio International Airport From the airport, take I-140 West. Turn right onto I-410 Access Road/NE I-410 loop, use the left lane to take the ramp onto I-410 West. From the right two lanes, take exit 16 for US 87 North/I-10 West towards El Paso. Take exit 561 toward Medical Drive/Wurzbach Road. Use the left lane to merge onto I-10/Frontage Road. Turn left onto Frontage Road, then right onto Fountainhead Drive, then left onto Horizon Hill Boulevard. The hotel will be on the left. To Six Flags Fiesta Texas Take I-10 West/I-35 North. Keep right at the fork and continue on I-10 West/US 87 North, follow signs for El Paso. From I-10, take exit 555 toward La Cantera Parkway/Fiesta Texas. Use the right lane to merge onto I-10,Frontage Road, then use the middle lane to turn left onto La Cantera Parkway. Bear right onto Six Flags Drive.
