Shady Side Academy New Faculty 2017-2018 Michael Doyle: Michael Doyle will be teaching in the Math Department. Dr. Doyle has a B.S.E. in Secondary Mathematics Education from Clarion University and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from Kent State University. Dr. Doyle taught in the Math Department at Kent State University and most recently at The Linsly School. Lucas Frankel: Lucas Frankel is joining us as a College Counselor. Mr. Frankel has a B.A. in Sociology from Northeastern University. He worked most recently as the Director of High School Academics and College Prep at Citysquash in New York City and as an independent college counselor at RTS, a college advising company that he co-founded. Russell Grant: Russell Grant will be teaching in the Science Department. Mr. Grant earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon and recently earned an M.S. in Education from Harvard University. Mr. Grant spent five years teaching Chemistry, Biology, and English in China before returning to the United States for graduate school. Tara O’Brien: Tara O’Brien will be teaching Economics this year while Mr. Giuntini is on sabbatical. Ms. O’Brien has a B.A. in Economics and History from the University of Notre Dame, and an M.S. in Education from Duquesne University. She has a wide range of experience as an Economics instructor at the high school and college level. Devon Renock: Devon Renock will be teaching in the Science Department. Dr. Renock has an M.S. in Chemistry and Geology from Mount Union College, an M.S. in Chemistry from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Michigan. Dr. Renock has worked as a research scientist and University instructor, and he has published a wide range of academic papers. Dr. Renock joins us from Dartmouth College, where he was an Assistant Professor. Elise Ryan: Elise Ryan will be teaching in the English Department, filling in for Mrs. Lynch while she is on maternity leave. Dr. Ryan has a B.A. in English from the University of Pittsburgh and a Ph.D. in English from Indiana University. She has recently relocated to Pittsburgh from Ohio, where she was an Instructor of English at the Columbus College of Art and Design. Kaycee Sewchok: Kaycee Sewchok joined the Academic Office this summer as our new Registrar. She has a B.A. in Theatre, with a concentration in Musical Theatre, from Point Park University. Ms. Sewchok worked most recently as the Assistant Registrar at Point Park University. Jacqueline Weaver: Jacqueline Weaver will be teaching in the English Department. She earned a B.S. in Secondary Education and English from Duquesne University and is earning an M.A. from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College. Ms. Weaver has most recently been teaching English at Bishop Canevin High School. Amy Yam: Amy Yam will be teaching in the Math Department. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Bowdoin College and an M.A. in Education from Columbia University. Ms. Yam joins us from The Ellis School, where she worked as a Math teacher and Administrator. Shady Side Academy Administration: Judi Williams is our new Director of Equity, Inclusion & Community Relations. Ms. Williams holds a B.A. in political science and economics from Syracuse University and an M.A. in secondary social studies education from New York University. She joins us from Choate Rosemary Hall School in Connecticut. .
