Material traces refer to both the moving image products and the assortment of documentation about the processes of television as industrial and creative endeavors. By identifying the development of television-specific archives and collecting areas in the 1950s to the 1970s, the dissertation contributes to television studies, specifically pointing out how television materials were conceived as cultural and historical materials “worthy” of preservation and academic study. -

The Rita Williams Popular Song Collection a Handlist
The Rita Williams Popular Song Collection A Handlist A wide-ranging collection of c. 4000 individual popular songs, dating from the 1920s to the 1970s and including songs from films and musicals. Originally the personal collection of the singer Rita Williams, with later additions, it includes songs in various European languages and some in Afrikaans. Rita Williams sang with the Billy Cotton Club, among other groups, and made numerous recordings in the 1940s and 1950s. The songs are arranged alphabetically by title. The Rita Williams Popular Song Collection is a closed access collection. Please ask at the enquiry desk if you would like to use it. Please note that all items are reference only and in most cases it is necessary to obtain permission from the relevant copyright holder before they can be photocopied. This enabled us to celebrate not only the 50th anniversary of the Shakespeare Festival (1950-1999) but also the 50th anniversary of the first use of the Globe replica (1951-2000). John Cranford Adams originally conceived the Globe Playhouse in the 1940s, and a model was subsequently built with the assistance of Irwin Smith. In fact, the Globe model was exhibited on campus in 1950 and was the reason and occasion for the first Shakespeare Festival. -

This From: draft needs revision, but I must distance myself Date: 29 March 2017 in time before doing so. Subject: Conspiracy’s Historical Veracity and Classroom Use Introduction Commented [LS2]: In composing this memo, I wrote the Introduction last. In the decision to use Conspiracy as the only film in a Holocaust unit, teachers must consider what their goals are. Are they trying to create an emotional connection between Commented [LS3]: I will have to review this the audience and the subject matter? Are they willing to risk misrepresenting the historical paragraph to see if it fulfills the expectation of record in order to entertain or offer a visual, dramatized interpretation of the past? Because outlining the nature of the task and explains filmmakers engage in significant amounts of invention, largely through creating dialogue, criteria. At first, the hostages in the cramped, humid airport terminal thought it was just another announcement, something to relieve their boredom almost. But as the hijackers’ body language changes and the movie’s mournful soundtrack builds, it quickly dawns both on the hostages (and the audience) just what’s happening: Thirty years after the Second World War, and in the middle of Africa, the Jews are being selected, just like during the Holocaust. -

Specifically, this investigation focuses on the American LGBTQ community, who have historically demonstrated a high level of success in using theatre to bring public awareness to specific issues, such as homophobia and AIDS, and how playwrights within that community are currently dealing with the ongoing crisis of teen suicide and bullying, particularly in light of a string of LGBTQ bullying-related suicides in September 2010.
