Position Description SECTION 1 POSITION TITLE: Schools Specialist TYPE of EMPLOYMENT: Permanent KEY FOCUS OF THE ORGANISATION (WAFC Vision): Connecting and enhancing WA communities through our great game. KEY FOCUS OF THIS POSITION (Why this job exists): Provide leadership and support to WAFC District and regional staff to ensure growth amongst school participation programs and competitions. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS POSITION REPORTS TO: DEPARTMENT / BUSINESS DIRECT REPORTS: UNIT: Youth, Community & Game WAFC Participation Manager None Development AUTHORITY LEVELS (Decisions and Recommendations expected): Management of approved budgets. POSITION DESCRIPTION Page: 1 SECTION 2 KEY RESULT AREAS (KRA) / KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI’S) KRA’S - WHAT is PERFORMED KPI’S - HOW it WILL BE ACHIEVED – to WHAT STANDARD, TIME-FRAME, or for WHO School Programs and Competitions • Strategic oversight of School Football Competitions and Programs including management of competitions, provision of resources, liaising with key stakeholders and ensuring that sponsorship obligations are achieved • Management of approved Schools Budgets. • Develop and support initiatives and strategies to maximise participation in Australian Rules football in schools. • Manage the delivery of program resources to participating schools/teachers within time and budget parameters. • Provide leadership and support to school advisory and competition management committees. • Collaborate with Government, Catholic and Independent Schools’ Associations and School Sport WA to ensure administration and development of competitions is efficient, effective and appropriate. • Manage the development and allocation of school competition umpires. • Develop strategic vision to maximise participation in Australian Rules football in schools and tertiary institutions. • Manage the AFL School Ambassador program including budget, data, quality assurance and resourcing. • Collaborate with the AFL, West Coast Eagles, Fremantle Football Club, metropolitan and regional staff to promote and manage local, state and national programs and initiatives. • Manage AFL Approved Specialist Programs in schools (including SEDA). • Develop and support initiatives linking Australian Football to the Australian Curriculum. • Collaborate with WAFC Corporate Services team on school program and competition partnerships. • Develop and deliver education sessions at teacher and tertiary conferences, forums and roadshows. • Maintain up to date records and prepare reports on West Coast Eagles and Fremantle POSITION DESCRIPTION Page: 2 Football Club player appearances in line with the national CBA project. • Coordinate WAFC AFL School Grant allocations for permanent posts, post padding and jumpers. • Coordinate the WAFC Design a Jumper & Footy Writing competition for schools. • Coordinate the annual WA AFL School Ambassador Awards run through the Volunteer of the Year Program. • Provide support in organising the Volunteer of the Year Program. • Update and contribute to the WAFC website in the area of school programs and competitions. • Represent the WAFC at functions, conferences and meetings as required. AFL Curtain Raisers • Collaborate with AFL, West Coast Eagles and Fremantle FC to allocate Curtain Raisers Stakeholder Management & Governance • Maintain high level of professional service to key WAFC partners and sponsors including: o AFL o West Coast Eagles o Fremantle Football Club o Misc. additional sponsors and partners • Maintain a high level of stakeholder engagement to advocate WAFC outcomes with & including: o All WA Football stakeholders (Community Junior, Community Senior, School, WAFL) o AFL (Schools Department, Coaching Department, Community Participation & Game Development, FSP) o School Sport WA o Sporting Schools • Drafting of funding, grant and sponsor documentation where applicable.
