By Olivia Wohlner, Editorial Assistant · Mar 9, 2021 t’s pretty easy to remember to apply your daily facial moisturizer each morning, especially if it’s got built-in block that will help shield your skin from harmful UV rays. However, it’s defi- nitely safe to say that we often forget to give the skin on our body the same attention and Icare as our face. While that deeply moisturizing body wash can definitely keep your skin feeling smooth with each wash, it may not be enough to stand tall against those rough spots and dry patches. With that in mind, we tapped the skin-care pros to break down the eight best body lotions of all time. 1/12 AFA Advanced Body Lotion ($88) “This body lotion is specifically designed for areas of the body with visible sun damage, and it improves moisture retention, elasticity and skin texture,” says Omaha, NE dermatologist Joel Schlessinger, MD. “Formulated with afaLUXE technology, L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and Dead Sea minerals, this body lotion offers an effective treatment for minimizing hyperpigmentation and sun damage on areas such as the hands, arms, back and chest.” 2/12 Avène XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cream ($34) While describing the benefits of this skin-silkening cream, Miami dermatologist Dr. Deborah Longwill pins this product as her “all-time favorite.” “The Lipid-Replenishing Cream helps moisturize and soothe the skin while strengthening the skin’s barrier over time.

  • Burn Care: Moisturizing Your Skin
www.nshealth.ca Burn Care 2020 Moisturizing Your Skin Instructions • Healed and grafted skin may be dry, scaly, and stiff. After bathing, apply any 1 of the following lotions to healed skin. › Aveeno® › Lubriderm® › Eucerin® › Neutrogena® Norwegian Formula Hand › Glaxal Base® Cream › Gold Bond® Unscented (Anti-itch) › Vaseline® Intensive Care (not regular) Choose the one that best suits your skin. These products may be available at your local pharmacy or drug store. You do not need a prescription. • Do not use creams or lotions recommended by family and friends until you have checked them out with your therapist first. Newly healed skin is very sensitive and may be damaged by the wrong lubricant. • Do not use mineral oil or Vaseline® ointment as they can lead to skin breakdown. • Elastic pressure garments can be damaged by products that have excessive oil, wax, lanolin, or petroleum ingredients. Water-based lotions are least harmful to your garments. Make sure the lotion is well absorbed (rubbed in) into your skin. • Apply lotion to all healed areas as often as needed to prevent dryness. You may need to use it every 3 to 4 hours. Use only enough lotion to lightly lubricate the skin. Gently rub the lotion in until it disappears. If not rubbed in completely, the lotion will dry on your skin and clog the pores. Your skin should feel soft and moist after putting lotion on, not greasy. • Rub the lotion on in thin layers. Massage it in gently at first, because new scars are fragile. As your scar matures, you can add more pressure to help make them less stiff.

  • Aloe Sunless Tanning Lotion Description and Purpose
Aloe Sunless Tanning Lotion Description and Purpose Forever’s rich, aloe vera-based Sunless Tanning Lotion lets you ‘tan’ safely year-round without the damaging effects of the sun’s UV rays. The more often you apply it, the deeper your tan becomes. Once you’ve attained your desired tan level, less frequent applications are necessary. Aloe Sunless Tanning Lotion’s special formula pampers your skin with a luxurious aloe-based blend of hydrating moisturisers for safe, year-round results. Achieve a natural-looking, smooth, even tan without the sun’s harmful rays. Application Tips For an even, streak-free tan begin by exfoliating and then drying your skin. Moisturise using any of our fabulous moisturisers and wait for 15 minutes for the lotion to be absorbed so that it doesn’t interfere with the DHA (the active ingredient in all tanning products). Use your hands or a large sponge to apply the lotion all over the body. Allow 20 minutes to dry - after which you can go to bed, or get dressed for the day (your clothes won’t affect the tanning process). 7 At a glance... • Doesn’t streak • No unpleasant smell while activating • Aloe based for additional moisturisation • Repeat application for a deeper tan • Doesn’t rub off onto clothes If the product is applied with your hands, wash thoroughly immediately after application or rub them with fresh lemon juice to prevent staining. The lotion will not protect you from UVA or UVB ray damage. Aloe Sunscreen (SPF30) will protect you from the damaging rays. Although the skin looks a lovely bronze colour, it has not been prepared for the sun in any way.

  • Compared Evaluation of Botulinum Toxin a and a Cosmetic Antiperspirant in the Treatment of Focal Axillary Hyperhidrosis
Journal of Cosmetics, Dermatological Sciences and Applications, 2013, 3, 190-196 http://dx.doi.org/10.4236/jcdsa.2013.33029 Published Online September 2013 (http://www.scirp.org/journal/jcdsa) Compared Evaluation of Botulinum Toxin A and a Cosmetic Antiperspirant in the Treatment of Focal Axillary Hyperhidrosis Meike Streker, Stefanie Lübberding, Martina Kerscher Cosmetic Science, Department of Chemistry, University of Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany. Email: [email protected] , Received March 27th, 2013; revised April 30th, 2013; accepted May 8th, 2013 Copyright © 2013 Meike Streker et al. This is an open access article distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License, which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited. ABSTRACT Background: Primary focal hyperhidrosis can significantly reduce quality of life. Therefore a lot of treatment options in a range of conservative, physical and surgical techniques are available. Objective: To assess the efficacy of an antiper- spirant containing aluminum chloride compared to a Botulinumtoxin A treatment for patients with primary focal hyper- hidrosis. Methods and material: In this randomized, single-center, half-side trail, a clinical score was done by patients and physician to evaluate the severity of hyperhidrosis. Gravimetric tests were performed to gather the amount of sweat per unit of time. Furthermore the efficacy was determined using a four point questionnaire. Skin irritation was assessed by measuring pH value and transepidermal water loss. Results: A total of 22 patients were enrolled. Two weeks after baseline the hyperhidrosis level was significantly reduced (BTX-A: −92.9%, AL: 66.7%). In addition both treatment options induced a significant reduction of sweat production (BTX-A: −80.8%, AL: 68.8%).
