From: Nikki Papadimitriou [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, January 25, 2010 2:18 PM To: Air Service Comments; [email protected] Subject: Please open Paine Field for Commercial Air Travel To Whom It May Concern: As an Everett native who has seen road and air congestion in our region grow to such a degree that California's traffic at times seems preferable, I'd like to let you know that I, and the rest of my voting, tax-paying family of Snohomish County wish to see Paine Field open for commercial air travel. It is foolish in this day and age to expect not to be disturbed at times by modern modes of transportation. As I sit in my office I can hear a bus go by on the city street below, seventeen stories below in fact! Snohomish County needs the jobs that this expansion will bring more than Harbour Pointe needs a silent neighborhood. I challenge anyone who opposes Paine Field expansion to explain how their choice to buy a home near a continuously operating airport entitles them to shout down progress based on weak arguments regarding noise pollution and declining property values. I'd like to offer a suggestion that seems to have worked very well for Orange County, California. John Wayne Airport has some of the most expensive homes in California in it's flight path. At John Wayne commercial flight take offs and landings can occur only between specified times usually 7 am to 11 pm and takeoffs at almost full power in addition to steep ascents also help with noise abatement. I'm certain anything OC can do, we can do better. Please, full steam ahead with commercial flight out of Paine Field. It's time for Snohomish County to grow up. In addition to the convenience it would add to my travel schedule, the economic benefits will help the entire region. New direct jobs as well as auxilliary employment will develop if even a limited number of commercial flights are esta blished. Please count me as "FOR" commercial air service from Paine Field! I do not know if the FAA and the Port of Bellingham should be serving Canadians more than Americans. We are giving up so much and for Allegiant to claim that they only would have 4 flights is no different that what happended in Bellingham. I am looking at trying to change Washington's Growth Management Act (Transportation) based on serving a region that is Canadian. The idea that the airport is encrouched upon is just not true when homes were bought and the noise and emissions have extended three times outside the BLI airport boundry. The 100 million in grants the Port claims never required an EIS or EA's. How can this be when we are taling a 2/3 increase in enplanments with roughly now 300,000 enplanments. Please find attached my comments regarding the EA. Thank you. (See attached file: sl.doc) P.9 Matt Paskus - 116/2010 1151 Old Marine Drive Bellingham, Washington We are here to evaluate an Environmental Assessment. Folks, this same Environmental Assessment looks similar to any other. You are seeing a presentation that has been repeated over and over again in small cities across the country introduced by aviation professionals who are supported by the FAA to market and promote aviation plain and simple. I do not koow how many of you have visited Bellingham, but we are the gateway to the San Juan Islands in short it's a really nice place to live. The problem is we do have an airport. In fact, Bellingham is home to one of the fastest growing airports in the country based on FAA enplaned passenger counts. Whatcom County cannot support air service without the majority of Canadian and your county's interest. I don't koow who to thank Allegiant, Horizon, Alaska Airlines, the FAA? Do I thank the Port officials? Do I thank the airport committees that are stacked with aviation professionals, or the politicians that have ties to aviation? As some of you have already found out by being here tonight that you had no choice but to start the process for air service. Well guess what, the same thing happened in Bellingham. Just ask the home owners who lost their homes to some aviation marketer's vision in the 90's in order to save General
