Tournament Descriptions 2019 Updated May 2019 Ladies Tournament Information Tournament Schedule - Ladies’ Opening Scramble May 11 - Ladies’ Flag Day Tournament May 26 - Ladies Stableford June 15 - Ladies’ Solheim Cup June 22 - Red White & Blue July 4 - Ladies’ Member/Member Championship July 13 & 14 - Ladies Senior Club Championship - July 27 & 28 (Women aged 50 and over) - Ladies’ Member Guest August 8 - Ladies’ Club Championship August 24 & 25 - Ladies’ Ryder’s Cup September 21 - Ladies’ Closing Scramble October 5 Tournament Information The tournament schedule, made available to members at the beginning of the year, lists all tournaments. Tournament announcements are also made via email along with flyers posted in the ladies locker room and Pro Shop. These will include details like date, format, deadlines and contact person. All tournaments, except the ‘red, white and blue’ are played from the forward (Red) tees. It is the call of the course superintendent to cancel a tournament event in case of bad weather, halting play, or closing the Course. Opening ABCD Scramble — one day event • Format: Teams of 3 or 4 players each will be put together by the Pro Shop from those signed up for the scramble. The teams include an A, B, C, & D flight player, to be as equal as possible. All handicap players are encouraged to participate. If you don’t have a handicap yet, the pro shop will help you decide on one for this early event. This event is usually not handicapped unless teams are very far apart, then handicap. • Each team member hits their drive, often the D player goes first and the team hits in reverse order, the A player hitting last so she can “go-for-it” if there is a good shot in play already. Each team member’s tee shot must be used at least 2 times over the 18 holes. The team then chooses the best shot and all 4 players hit from within 1 club length (no closer to the hole). On the green, balls are played from the same spot within 6”, no closer to the hole. Often the D player putts first, showing the line (or showing the others) how to putt. • The lowest total team score wins. "1 of "4 Updated May 2019 • In cases where one of the tams consist of a threesome, where everyone else is a foursome, the following rules apply: then player above and below the issuing player (i.e. if B player is missing, A & C player will alternate hitting two shots to make up the difference. • Payouts: Must pay all people on each winning team. Use entry fee money collected by the Pro Shop to pay out Pro Shop credit for prizes to the winning team(s). Tournament funds may be used as pro shop credit to cover extra Closest to the Pin or Closest to the Line prizes. • Variation: Step aside scramble. All players hit their tee shots. The three players whose shot didn’t get used hit their ball from that position. Play continues in this manner until on the green. Once on the green, all 4 players are back in the game – each putting until the ball is holed out. The flyer will designate which format is to be used. Flag Tournament – one day 9-hole event • Format: This 9-hole tournament is played as an individual event where each player is allocated half of her 18-hole handicap plus 36. She will be provided with a flag containing her name and allocated total strokes. When the player has reached that score, she plants her flag in the ground, whether it is fairway or green, etc. Whoever goes the farthest is the winner. If a player completes the nine and still has strokes, play continues to next hole(s) until all strokes are used up. This tournament is usually played on the back nine and is played with 100% handicap. • Payouts: This is a handicapped event and you just pay the first 3 or 4 place individual winners. Entry fees collected are used to pay for prizes. Additional tournament funds may be used to cover extra closest to the pin or line prizes. Stableford – one day event • Format: The Stableford tournament can be played as an individual competition, a team competition or a combination of both. The selected format will be specified on the flyer. Golfers are allocated a certain number of points on a hole depending on the net score of the player. The aim of the Stableford is to accumulate the most number of points over the course of 18 holes. Points are awarded based on the net score of the individual player (after handicap adjustment) or the best team score as follows • Net Result Points: - Double Bogey or worse – 0 points - Bogey – 1 point - Par–2points - Birdie – 3 points - Eagle – 4 points - Double Eagle – 5 points • Each player plays their own ball and records points based on their net score. Once a player has netted a double bogey earning 0 points, the ball can be picked up without penalty for quicker play. • This tournament can be flighted so golfers of an equal ability are playing together. • Payouts: This is a handicapped event and you just pay the first 3 or 4 place individual winners. If played as a team event number of places paid will be reduced. Entry fees collected are used to pay for prizes. Additional tournament funds may be used to cover extra closest to the pin or line prizes. - Solheim Cup- 1 day event • Format: The Solheim is a match play event where all of the players are divided into two teams, a Red team and a Blue team. Matches are then played with the points being scored for the Red or Blue team. The pro shop will create the teams evenly divided by handicaps. • This is an 18-hole handicapped event. • The team (all of the red players or all of the blue players) will win or lose as a team depending on the points scored by the matches played by their respective players. "2 of "4 Updated May 2019 • Each foursome will be made up of 2 red players and 2 blue players. The match format itself can be set up either as singles matches or as 4 ball matches. Day one can use one format with day two using the other format. Or both days may be played using the same format. The format(s) to be used will be specified on the flyer. • The difference between the two formats is as follows. - The four-ball format is a match where the two players from the same team (red or blue) each plays their own balls and records their own scores, so ‘four balls’ are in play on each hole. The team whose player scores the lowest net score wins the hole. Should players from each side tie for the lowest net score the hole is said to be halved. Each match will be worth 3 points; one for the front nine, one for the back nine and one for total holes won. A point is earned if a player wins the most holes on each nine or total. - The singles format is a match where one red player will play against one blue player head to head with the player having the lower net score winning the hole. Should opposing players have the same net score on a hole, the hole is said to be halved. Again, each match is worth 3 points, one for the front nine, one for the back nine and one for total holes won. A point is earned if a player wins the most holes on each nine or total. - Payouts: This is a team event so the other team’s entry fee can go to pay the winning team members. That is, the wining team member will get back their $10 entry fee plus the $10 entry fee of their opponent. Additional tournament funds may be used to cover extra closest to the pin or line prizes. There may be separate ‘Closest’ prizes for each team. Red, White, Blue – 1 day event • Format: This 18-hole tournament is played as an individual event or a team event (better ball), with each player playing their own ball. There will be gross and net prizes. The players will tee off from the Red, White, and Blue color tees in a rotating basis (Hole 1,4,7,10,13,16 Red; 2,5,8,11,14,17 White; 3,6,9,12,15,18 Blue) or tell which color to play on each hole (some holes might be too difficult from the blue). The flyer will indicate whether individual or a team format is to be used. • Payouts: Pay x number of individual gross and net winners, depending on number of entries. Entry fees collected are used to pay for prizes. Additional tournament funds may be used to cover extra closest to the pin or line prizes. Note if the blue tee is used on number 12, it will not be used as a CTP hole. Member-Member Championship – 2 day event • Format: This tournament is played as 2 person partner event. The pro shop can help match up singles. As a 2-day event, the formats differ each day; day one is an 18-hole scramble and day two is an 18-hole better ball. This tournament can have closest to the pin and/or closest to the line prizes. This tournament is flighted if the number of entries warrants it. • The scramble is handicapped at a percentage of the combined team handicap; 60% of higher handicap plus 40% of lower handicap.
