Therefore, we have made updates to the original European Eligibility Process. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep everyone informed should further changes be necessary. To All Potential Participants in the 2021 PING Junior Solheim Cup:

We would like to update you on our current thinking regarding the selection process for this year’s European PING Junior Solheim Cup Team.

Clearly, the Covid-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on the lives of everyone in every country. Specific to golf, there are some countries where golf can be played and others where it cannot. International travel continues to be significantly impacted, which will have a knock-on impact on participation at the qualifying events.

PING and the LET do not want to place any pressure on eligible players to travel internationally to qualifying events in other countries. We want to make sure that the health and well-being of players is at the forefront of our thoughts. Each country has its own policies regarding current inter-country and cross-border travel and we must all respect and adhere to these policies in full. For these reasons, we have decided that for the event in Toledo, there are two possible options that we will keep open to cover selection of the team.

Option 1 Due to travel restrictions and the current status of the Covid-19 pandemic across Europe, the first three events in Portugal, and France will be dropped from the qualification process, leaving six events scheduled for June and July that will hopefully be played. If these six events are played but international participation is significantly impacted, we may need to move forward on the basis of Option 2. Assuming the six events do provide sufficient opportunity for players across the continent to travel and complete, the first six player selections will be the players earning the highest points on the PJSC ranking following these six events. The remaining six team selections will be made in the usual way, by the selection panel. Performances in the three early events dropped from the qualification process will be taken into account.

Option 2 If the Covid-19 pandemic and resulting travel restrictions continue for a longer period and impact international participation in the last six events, we will have to proceed based on there being no automatic team selections from the qualifying process. Instead, we will select the whole team based on a combination of the following:

- Performances at the qualifying tournaments that are played - Performances at other national and international tournaments that are played - Input from national coaches - Input from our Captain, Annika Sorenstam

The above will give all players the opportunity to excel in the events in which they are able to compete, while recognising the anticipated impact on international travel within Europe.

We are sure you will be as frustrated as we are but we cannot ignore the difficult and variable circumstances we are experiencing. We have thought long and hard about this and we believe this is the fairest and most appropriate way to move forward with team selection.

We will continue to monitor the situation and keep everyone informed should further changes be necessary.

Thank you for your understanding, patience and support.
