Xavier Malisse En Mansour Bahrami Tekenen Present Op Zesde Editie Persbericht Xavier Malisse en Mansour Bahrami tekenen present op zesde editie van Optima Open Knokke-Heist, 5 mei – Deze zomer, op 14, 15 en 16 augustus komen tennislegendes Xavier Malisse en Mansour Bahrami naar de zesde editie van Optima Open. Beide spelers zijn geen onbekenden voor de Belgische manche van de ATP Champions Tour. Malisse sleepte vorig jaar de winnaarstitel in de wacht. Hij zal het onder anderen opnemen tegen nieuwkomer Pete Sampras terwijl Bahrami samen met Noah het dubbelspel zal voorzien van een fameus staaltje entertainend tennis. Iraans topentertainment Bahrami schopte het in 1989 samen met Eric Winogradsky tot de finale in het dubbelspel tijdens Roland Garros. De tennisser met de indrukwekkende snor is vooral bekend om zijn fantastische trucs en hilarisch ballenspel. De voorbije twee jaar ging het publiek in de Royal Zoute Tennis Club in Knokke-Heist door z’n dak tijdens de performance van de Iraniër. Elke dag laat hij de bezoekers van zijn talent genieten tijdens de ‘Special Guest Double Match’. Kortrijkse titelverdediger Xavier Malisse versloeg vorig jaar de Fransman Fabrice Santoro tijdens de finale van Optima Open. Onze landgenoot komt dan ook dit jaar opnieuw zijn titel verdedigen. Malisse schreef in 2004 samen met Olivier Rochus geschiedenis door als eerste Belgen ooit een Grand Slam zege te behalen tijdens Roland Garros. De Kortrijkzaan zal op Optima Open meespelen voor de officiële ranking van de ATP Champions Tour, een serie van internationale toernooien voor de legendes van het tennis die het professionele circuit hebben verlaten en 30 jaar of ouder zijn. Het tennistoernooi in Knokke-Heist wordt jaarlijks georganiseerd door Optima; de Belgische marktleider op het vlak van financiële planning. “Ik ben erg verheugd dat ik er dit jaar opnieuw kan bijzijn. Vorig jaar beleefde ik een fantastisch toernooi met de zege als kers op de taart. Ik zal mijn titel deze zomer met trots verdedigen.”, aldus Malisse. Naast de officiële ranking van de ATP Champions Tour organiseert Optima Open ook elke speeldag een ‘Special Guest Double Match’ met nationale en internationale tennislegendes. Bahrami krijgt tijdens deze dubbelspelen al het gezelschap van Yannick Noah. Malisse concurreert in de officiële ranking voorlopig met Pete Sampras. Meer namen worden binnenkort bekend gemaakt.
