FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Betsy Clayton, APR/CPRC Communications Director Lee County Government 239-826-4606 [email protected] Horizon Council to host General Membership meeting Nov. 17 Fort Myers, FL, Nov. 9, 2017 – The Horizon Council and the Lee County Economic Development Office will host the final Horizon Council general membership meeting of the year 8 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Florida SouthWestern State College, Building AA-Room 177, in Fort Myers. The event will begin with networking and a light breakfast, followed by the meeting at 8:30 a.m. To register, email [email protected]. Ron Gardenhire, manager for the Detroit Tigers, will be the keynote speaker. Gardenhire played shortstop for the New York Mets from 1981 through 1985. He served as a coach for the Minnesota Twins from 1991 through 2001, then managed the Twins from 2002 through 2014. He won the American League Manager of the Year Award in 2010 and served as a coach for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. The meeting will also include the voting for new Horizon Council at-large members and officers for 2018. The Lee County Economic Development Office provides business assistance to retain existing businesses, encourage entrepreneurship and to attract new businesses so that Lee County has a strong economy, thriving communities, and broadly shared prosperity. The Horizon Council is a public-private advisory board established in 1991 to advise the Lee County Board of Commissioners on economic development issues. The Council’s mission is to improve Lee County’s business environment, retain and encourage expansion of existing businesses, and attract new and diversified employers.
