This Stage Two Study (GBS Stage Two) assesses the promoted or lower performing Green Belt parcels, considers constraints and identifies parcels which are potentially suitable for release from the Green Belt which could potentially contribute to EEBC’s housing land supply as part of the current Core Strategy Review. Downloaded by [New York University] at 12:59 29 November 2016 The Story of Nursing in British Mental Hospitals From their beginnings as the asylum attendants of the nineteenth century, mental health nurses have come a long way. This is the first comprehensive history of mental health nursing in Britain in over twenty years, and during this period the landscape has transformed as the large institutions have been replaced by services in the community. McCrae and Nolan examine how the role of mental health nursing has evolved in a social and professional context, brought to life by an abundance of anecdotal accounts. The nine chronologically ordered chapters follow the development from untrained attendants in the pauper lunatic asylums to the professionally qualified nurses of the twentieth century, and, finally, consider the rundown and closure of the mental hospitals from nurses’ perspectives. Throughout, the argument is made that while the training, organisation and environment of mental health nursing has changed, the aim has remained essentially the same: to nurture a therapeutic relationship with people in distress. McCrae and Nolan look forward as well as back, and highlight significant messages for the future of mental health care. For mental health nursing to be meaningfully directed, we must first understand the place from which this field has developed. This scholarly but accessible book is aimed at anyone with an interest in mental health or social history, and will also act as a useful resource for policy- makers, managers and mental health workers. See Principles on main webpage. Woodland, high grassland, secret paths, race course, views In Brief Home to the Epsom Races, including the Derby, the chalk Downs are part of the DNA of English life. From here, in April or June you can watch the races for free, but throughout the year the Downs are a free-to-go wonder of butterflies and buttercups. This is not a lonely walk because you will meet hundreds of happy trippers, but it starts quietly and rather mysteriously, revealing its sudden views and a few vast open secrets, which may surprise you, considering how close Epsom is to London. There are just a few nettles and brambles at the start of this walk, not enough to rule out wearing shorts. The chalky paths make trainers or walking shoes wearable in the summer, although the forest paths could trap some puddles in the wetter months. Your dog is very welcome on this walk, preferably bypassing Tattenham Corner to avoid the only main road. Cert No 12/322 Epsom 10 mile, Road race Sunday 17 November 2013, Start Time 9:30 am Under UKA rules, permit 2013-10308 A 10 mile road race starting and finishing by Epsom Downs racecourse. The course follows a loop on the roads around Epsom and Walton Downs. From the Racecourse it travels down Langley Vale and across Headley Heath returning through Walton on the Hill and Tadworth. It is undulating with most of the challenging hills, both ascents and descents, in the first 4 miles. After Headley Heath the course is fairly flat for another 3 miles before descending through Tadworth and the ‘switchback’ between miles 8 and 9 to Tattenham Corner with a gentle downhill in the last mile to the finish. The course will be well signed and marshalled with markers at every Mile and water stations at about 3.5 and 7 miles. There are prizes for the first 3 men and women plus the first in the usual veterans / masters categories plus a prize for the first male & female club teams, 3 runners to score. Every finisher will get an Epsom 10 pen plus a medal to commemorate the 50th anniversary of this event which was first run in 1963. PRIZES Men: 1st-3rd Teams: 1st Male / 1st Female Women: 1st-3rd UKA Affiliated Clubs (3 to score on aggregate positions) 1st M40/F35 Separate team entries are not necessary.
