First, there will be two new teams in Grand View College of Des Moines, Iowa and Waldorf College of Forest City, Iowa. Both schools will be part of the 2009-2010 eight-team Midwest League which include Iowa Wesleyan of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; St. Ambrose of Davenport; and William Penn of Oskaloosa, Iowa along with McKendree of Lebanon, Ill.; Quincy, Ill. and St. Francis of Joliet, Ill. Meanwhile, three Illinois schools — Olivet Nazarene from Bourbonnais, Saint Xavier of Chicago and Trinity International of Deerfield — will compete as part of the eight-team Mideast League to help balance out the MSFA in 2009-2010. Joining those schools in the Mideast will be Marian of Indianapolis, Ind.; Saint Francis of Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Taylor of Upland, Ind.; along with Malone and Walsh of Canton, Ohio. Ohio Dominican completed its play in the MSFA in 2008, and is moving to NCAA Division II. Malone, Olivet Nazarene, Saint Xavier, Taylor and Trinity International were among 11 charter members of the MSFA, which was formed in April 1993 and began its first season of competition in 1994. Saint Xavier was added in 1995, Iowa Wesleyan, St. Ambrose and Walsh in 1996, Saint Francis (Ind.) and McKendree in 1998, St. Francis (Ill.) in 2000, William Penn in 2002, Quincy in 2003 and Marian in 2007. Each MSFA team plays the other teams within its league plus crossover games against the other league. The champions of the two leagues receive automatic berths into the NAIA Championship playoffs. The Chairman of the MSFA during the 2009-2010 school year will be Harry Statham, Ath- letics Director at McKendree University. Dr. James D. Houdeshell of Findlay, Ohio serves as the MSFA Commissioner and Larry Alter of Findlay, Ohio is the Mid-States Football Association Information Director.
