New Orleans It has turned into an alliance in which students cheer each other - page 7 on at sporting events. This crazy group of kids is better known as The Union. The Union was formed in 2011 by the QU baseball and soccer teams. It all started off as a joke and the members did not think their legacy would last long.They would meet occasionally at a place better known on campus as Brown Town. Now there are no meetings. It is strictly cheering at each oth- er’s games.     Ohio Dominican Introduces its 16th President Robert A. Gervasi, Ph.D. Robert Gervasi, Ph.D. has been named as Ohio Dominican University’s 16th president. He will assume office on June 26, 2017. Dr. Gervasi comes to ODU from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, where he currently serves as president. During his tenure, the university expanded its academic profile and community outreach, strengthened fundraising, increased enrollment, and enhanced campus life. Under Dr. Gervasi’s leadership, the university opened its first new student residence facility in 40 years, celebrated the grand opening of The Connie Niemann Center for Music, and secured the largest gift from a living donor in its 153-year history to renovate the university’s Center for Science. The number of students in the Honors Program has expanded from 30 to more than 200 in the last eight years. The university also has seen significant upgrades in the student cafeteria and its athletic facilities, including the construction of QU Stadium. Before joining Quincy, Dr. Gervasi was president and CEO of the Institute for Study Abroad in Indianapolis, Indiana. There he served more than 3,000 American students annually at 80 universities worldwide. Prior to that, he served as dean of Kentucky Campuses and dean of external programs for McKendree University at its Louisville campus. In these positions, he had responsibility for all executive functions such as strategic planning, faculty development, marketing, fundraising and recruitment. Dr. Gervasi has taught at the University of Louisville, McKendree University, Chatfield College in St. Martin, Ohio, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Xavier University in Cincinnati, the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania, and The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.
