It is a privilege to be a part of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Confer- ence as it is one of the stronger conferences in the NAIA. With this, our student athletes face excellent competition and have the opportunity to grow through adversity and develop skills that they can take with them the rest of their lives. Trinity is an NAIA school, which means that sport is much more than having success on the field. The NAIA strives to build into student-ath- Heather Logue - Director of Athletics letes skills they can take with them for the rest of their lives through their Champions of Character program. At the heart of this program are five core values: •Integrity •Respect •Responsibility •Sportsmanship •Servant leadership It is our desire for every student-athlete to grow and develop in the core values of the NAIA. We are also part of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Asso- ciation) where we believe: •Athletics are a means to an end, not the end in themselves •The process is as important as the performance •The person (student-athlete) is more important than the program We are committed to equipping student-athletes and coaches to make a positive impact for Christ. Please join us in cheering on our Trinity Trojan Men’s Soccer team as they take the field this season. Thank you for your support! In Christ, Heather Logue Director of Athletics 2 2019 Season Review The Trinity International University men’s soccer team entered the 2019 season looking to improve after a difficult 2018 campaign, which saw them post a 4-10-2 record, and 1-8-2 mark in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play under first year head coach Josiah Larson. The Trojans opened the season with a 13-0 rout of Lincoln Christian on the road, which saw Josiah Fox score a hat trick on just three shots. After dropping two of their next three matches, TIU rolled past Indiana University-Northwest 6-1 with a hat trick from Jorge Vasquez. The Trojans narrowly tied St. Ambrose in their CCAC opener with goalkeeper Andre Wentzel preventing the Fighting Bees from scoring the winning goal in double overtime. Despite a 3-2-1 start, the Trojan offense struggled to score, being shut out in their next three matches. TIU rebounded with back-to-back wins over rival Trinity Christian and Andrews University. Trinity would win just one of their remain- ing six matches, ending the season tenth in the CCAC standings. Fuchs and senior captain Luke Stell were selected to the NCCAA All-North Central Region team, while Michael Lord was named as an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete. 2020 Preview The start 2020 season of TIU men’s soccer will be delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is expected to be another season of tough competition for the Trojans. Trinity returns a large portion of their 2019 roster, including leading scorer Josaih Fuchs and starting goaltender Andre Wentzel. Several new faces join the TIU program including University of Dubuque transfer Jonny Mueller, Barrington High School standout Victor Castandea and a number of young defensive players. The Trojans will open their delayed season right away with CCAC competition as they visit St. Ambrose on Febru- ary 27. Due to field conditions and light, games are scheduled to be split between the Waukegan Sports Park and Heritage Park Sports Complex in nearby Wheeling. The March 25 senior day match against Lincoln Christian is the only match scheduled to be played on Schartner Field on the TIU campus. The 2020 CCAC Tournament will be played April 13-17, with the top-four seeds hosting first-round matches. With the NCCAA Tournament being played the previous fall, the NAIA Tournament will being with opening round matches April 22-23, and the finals site being contested May 4-10 in Evans, Georgia. 3 2020 Men’s Soccer Schedule DATE OPPONENT LOCATION VENUE TIME Sat. Walzer The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2017 Under the Supervision of Professor Rachel Buff This dissertation examines the importance of white ethnicity, and especially Germanness, in the “civic branding” and urban restructuring efforts of city officials, civic boosters, and business leaders in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the mid-to-late twentieth century. Scholars have increasingly identified the significant roles the “revival” of European ethnic identities played in maintaining white racial privilege in response to the Civil Rights Movement since the 1960s.
