Resolutions higher than 1600x1200 are not available. And you can only look around with your mouse by pressing a key. All in all pretty 90s! So you can head over to GOG.com and download the complete Quake II: Quad Damage game. It includes Quake II, The Reckoning and Ground mission packs, AND the Extremities Netpack. Awesome. But, as with almost all games on this website, there's also a port available for Quake 2. And it's a good one. Only downside is that it's hosted on a Russian website. So you have to look carefully between all the Russian characters. Visit the project website at http://berserker.quakegate.ru if you like. Music files need to be named track02.ogg to track11.ogg . Run quake2vr or choose one of the links provided in the extras pack. You can alternately just copy the contents of the extracted Quake2VR directory on top of an existing Quake II installation, however there is always the risk that this breaks the original installation. If your Oculus Rift is connected and powered on it will enable support automatically at launch, but you can also enable Rift support by accessing the console using. and entering vr_enable . When it initializes it will attempt to locate the display that the Rift is configured as and use it, but if that fails it will default to the primary monitor. Aim mode warnings. Aim modes that allow the mouse to adjust the view pitch are currently broken in multiplayer. These are denoted with an * in the VR settings menu, and are aim modes 2 and 4 if you set them through the cvar's. Modifications and Add-On's. As this is based on KMQuake II, it supports any modification or add-on that is compatible with KMQuake II. Hi, I'd like to briefly explain how to enable mission packs for the Q2RTX. If you have Steam Q2 mission packs, it will be much easier in terms of downloading and installing. If you don't own a copy, go buy one. 1. Install Q2 mission packs 2. Copy all data files to Q2RTX folder. 3. Modify two BAT files (ground_zero.bat AND reckoning.bat) with a texteditor as follows: Both files should begin with ".\quake2.exe", change the execution name to "q2rtx.exe", without the double quotation, and leave all other arguments as-is. 4. run the BAT! Added. Reckoning does not work. I have tried to extract pak file contents to the root of Xatrix, but it did not work. Someone please help X( Hi, I'd like to briefly explain how to enable mission packs for the Q2RTX. If you have Steam Q2 mission packs, it will be much easier in terms of downloading and installing. Added. Reckoning does not work. I have tried to extract pak file contents to the root of Xatrix, but it did not work. Someone please help X( Ground Zero does work however the (**edit)elevators in all missions are bugged and there is no way to activate the elevators (edit**) , this is a game breaking bug. As far as the reckoning I can get it to load to the menu screen, however it will not load any of the maps in the mission pack. I sure hope that nvidia steps up to the plate and helps get these working for us. Or at least give us some info that will point us in the right direction. Both can load the levels. I think you eventually get stuck, on both. And you don't need a .bat file You can do the same with shortcuts, Just shortcut to the main executable and add +set game rogue or +game rogue. Also, q2rtx_media.pkz contains a file called sky_clusters.txt This file has lighting information for every map, but does not include the expansions. # This file is part of the Q2RTX lighting system. # For every map, it lists BSP clusters with skybox and lava polygons # that have to be converted to analytic area lights. # For more information, see comments in the `path_tracer.h` file # in Q2RTX source code. I tried Ground zero, seemed fine, although the elevators are missing on the first level. Then I loaded up Reckoning, surprisingly that worked pretty well including the elevators. The issues are the enemies like the swamp monsters do not load, (or monster_gekk) doesn't have a spawn function, so outside of Q2 base enemies, new enemies will not spawn(a total of 4 types?), still enough to keep you busy. But the beginning swamp levels are pretty empty. Green cards do not spawn either. I would complete the level then gamemap levelname to get to the next level if for example no green card. textures for the rocky cliffs are default since there are no updated textures for it. Also I think on industry two set of doors will let you out but not back in. So to get around this I broke the old cmds out and played on god mode with giveall (helps because you will use the flare gun alot) and turned on then off noclip, when I got stuck, which was actually rare. It seems though it assigns known textures by creating materials for unknown materials, this might result in a translucent steel floor for a glass window, but overall was pretty accurate. All in all The Reckoning was not as good gameplay or level wise compared to the Q2 base. To play just copy the expansion folder to the base Quake II RTX folder then add either one expansion below to the Quake II RTX launch options in the steam library. +set game xatrix +set game rogue. Here are both expansion maps and some quake cmds: god give all no clip gamemap XMOON2 basedir - The location of the baseq2 directory.
