If I could lay out a roadmap that would provide your Scouts BSA Troop or Venture Crew: • A simpler, easier, less stressful and more enjoyable Scouting program • A stronger Scouting program for your families at a reduced out-of-pocket cost • Increased parental involvement • More families engaged in Scouting activities • Better retention • More funding with less time spent fundraising Would you utilize it with your Troop or Crew’s leadership team? If the answer is yes, then READ ON. Over the next few pages, we’ll guide you through creating your Troop or Crew’s Ideal Year of Scouting, which dovetails directly into Scouting’s Journey to Excellence program. Your Troop or Crew’s metrics are located on the next 2 pages; reviewing it consistently throughout the year will help your Troop or Crew identify, quantify, track and report key factors to make the program you deliver even better for your Scouts. If you have questions or get stuck along the way don’t worry – we’ve got you covered! This guide and additional online resources are available at www.nfcscouting.org/IYOS. You can also contact us at 904.388.0591 and we’ll connect you with your local Scouting professional who can help you achieve your Troop or Crew’s vision for the upcoming program year. What the Scouting program has to offer both youth and adults alike is unparalleled. The values and leadership it transfers and the priceless memories that are made along the way are what makes Scouting the best youth development program on the planet. I began my Scouting journey as a Tiger Cub right here in the North Florida Council over 20 years ago and haven’t left! I was blessed with strong adult leaders and mentors throughout the entirety of my journey who focused on FUN and creating a sense of FAMILY within our Scouting programs – and IT WORKED! My friends and I had the opportunity to take part in some mountaintop moments (literally and figuratively) along my path to attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. I can attest that following the concepts outlined here will provide your unit with an even stronger Scouting experience than the one I enjoyed as a youth – Scout’s Honor. In fact, helping the next generation of Scouts and Scouters achieve family memories of their own is why I’ve chosen to make servant leadership to Scouting my life’s work. Thank you for your continued dedication and leadership towards such an impactful organization. Have a GREAT year!
