It is open to all Cub Scouts. The only program on Sunday will be the vespers following breakfast. The Chuckwagons used are scaled-down models of the Old West Chuckwagons. Using the dimensions on the other resource link as a reference, these wagons can be easily built in a weekend. The design, materials, and workmanship can be creative, but the dimensions and restrictions must be followed. Each Chuckwagon will have a maximum of 12 Scouts working as a team. We recommend that the packs mix the age groups of the Cub Scouts. Only Cub Scouts are eligible to compete. THE REGISTERED SCOUTS THAT START ON THE WAGON MUST STAY ON THAT WAGON FOR THE DAY. Substitutions must be cleared with the Chuckwagon staff Chairman. Wagons must have one adult volunteer guide to help the Chuckwagon Staff. These volunteers will assist at the stations as the Scouts pull into a fort. All information and some supplies will be furnished by the station captain for that fort. Each fort will have stations at which the Scouts will have a skill or physical task to do.

    WE ARE BROTHERS The History of Echockotee Lodge #200 Est. 1941 WWW 76th Anniversary Edition First a Spark, then a Flame As one of the four official experimental programs in the early years of the Boy Scouts of America, the Order of the Arrow’s growth was due to the word-of-mouth advertising between council executives, seeing its successes and bringing the Order into their own programs. This was at a time when each of the experimental programs were to grow at their own natural pace, and it was only through personal contact and observation could the Order grow. In February of 1937, in Columbia, South Carolina, a meeting of the executives of the old Region Six was held. These leaders, coming from North and South Carolina, Georgia, most of Florida, parts of Alabama, and the Panama Canal Zone, met with members of the National Program staff, including E. Urner Goodman, the founder of the Order of the Arrow. In his capacity of Director of Program, for the BSA, he was in a position to offer his expert advice on the Order and its potential in camp and council activities. In the ten years following that meeting, 34 of the 40 lodges in Region Six were chartered by the National office. Seeds planted in that meeting were tended by nearby executives familiar with the benefits brought by the Order, and from those leaders of nearby lodges came the establishment of other lodges; such was the case with the establishment of Echockotee Lodge 200. Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has maintained a high profile in the Jacksonville, Florida area.

A new year is great starting point for new opportunities. But, be- fore we forget about 2017, I thought it would be a good idea to look back at the year and mention a handful of highlights. Welcome 1 100th Anniversary: Obviously, the biggest was the 100th Anniversary of the Upcoming Events 2 Council. When we first started discussing this milestone a few years ago, I looked around to find what other councils who have turned 100 had done to celebrate. Council News 3-4 The one thing that became clear is that there aren’t many other “100 year old’s” out there. Sure, we aren’t the only ones, but we are in the minority when it Quick News 5-6 comes to having this much tenure. We looked back on these years through spe- cial events such as the Appreciation Dinner and the Eagle Brunch. Camping and the outdoor adventure are at the core of the mission of Scouting. INTRODUCTION In only a certain sense have the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) prevailed in their fight to exclude gay men from leadership positions. To be sure, Boy Scouts of America v. Dale1 does establish a First Amendment right to “expressive association” strong enough to defeat civil rights laws addressed to private organizations.
