It was just over three years ago when the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League, the team owners and the team management did just that. They met, they worked together and developed a list of ideas to increase the focus on the many skilled, hard-working players in this league. Their winning idea was implemented and the MMJHL showcase weekend was born. Now an annual event the recent MMJHL talent showcase weekend was held at the Bell MTS Iceplex from January 12 to 14, 2018. Each of the league’s ten teams played two games in a venue built to feature the top hockey players in the province. The Express had games against Jerry Sodomlak, Transcona Railer Express the Pembina Valley Twisters and the President and MMJHL Charleswood Hawks, working hard to Showcase Chairman win both games, four important points earned as the team focuses on playoffs. Noah Skorpad and Connor Shaw were both named players of the game. A big thank you to Express President Jerry Sodomlak, who as the MMJHL Showcase Chair his hard work, expertise and team of volunteers make this showcase happen.
