The auction, which took place near the centre of Holiday Alley in down- town Selkirk last Saturday afternoon, saw six colourful and locally de- signed ice shacks go up for auction. Each shack was painted by a different Manitoba artist. The bidding started at $500, with some shacks going for more than $1,000. Andrea Yurkiw, one of the organiz- ers and part of the auction sponsor Jimmy Reels, said that it was exciting to see so much generosity on display.
