President Yngvadottir is a Biomedical Scientist and has worked in research, education and management. Since 1990 she has worked at the University of Iceland as Vice Director at the Institute of Continuing Education. A member of the Gardabaejar Eik Lions Club since 1992, President Yngvadottir has held many offices within the association, including District Governor, Council Chairperson. She has dedicated her service to children and youth, membership and leadership development, health and wellness, including vision and diabetes, environmental projects and Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). President Yngvadottir served as International Director 2010-2012 on the Leadership Committee, as Chairperson the second year; 2011-2013 on the Women’s Task Force; 2012-2013 she was a Board Appointee on the District and Club Service Committee; and 2013-2014 on LCIF Governance Ad Hoc Committee. In recognition of her service, she has received numerous awards including the Kjarans Medal, the highest award of Icelandic Lions; the Lions Crystal, the highest award of Norwegian Lions; several Membership and Extension Awards; eleven International President’s Awards; and the Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest Lions Clubs International award. She is also a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. In addition to her Lions activities, President Yngvadottir is active in numerous professional and community organizations, including the Icelandic Association of Biomedical Scientists and has been their representative in Scandinavian and European cooperation. President Yngvadottir and her husband, Dr. Jon Bjarni Thorsteinsson, a past international director and a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, have one son, one daughter and six grandchildren. 4 2018-2019 District Governor Jim Aucoin Lion Jim joined the Red Lake District Lions Club in Multiple District 5M10 in 1984. When he finished his 36 year teaching career in 2003, he and his wife Linda moved to Fredericton in 2004. He transferred to the Nashwaaksis Lions Club when he arrived. Lion Jim has held every office in Lions and he was honored to serve 5 terms as President. He has held various positions at the District N-1 and Multiple District N levels including Constitution & By-Laws Committee, Peace Poster Contest, Zone chair and NB Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes chair. Lion Jim has received recognition for his 34 years of service in Lions including: - Melvin Jones Fellow in 2004 - District N-1 and MD N Outstanding Club President 2011 - Multiple District N Best President 2011 - District N-1 Lion of the Year 2012 - Judge Brian Stevenson Fellowship 2013 - District Governor N-1 Appreciation Award 2014 - District N-1 Best District Chair 2015- 2016 - District N-1Second Vice District Governor 2016-2017 - 2016 USA/ Canada Lions Leadership Forum in Omaha, NE - District N-1 Zone Chair Liaison2016-2017 - Certified Teacher for Lions Quest 2018 - District N-1 First Vice District Governor 2017-2018 He has attended two International Conventions in Toronto and Las Vegas, three Multiple District N Conventions in Fredericton, NB, St. John’s, NL and Cornerbrook, NL. He attends District N-1 Cabinet / Fall Rally meetings and Annual Conventions. Lion Jim has received Certificates of Appreciation from the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, Diabetes Canada, Canadian Blood Services and the Nashwaaksis Lions Club. He has been a facilitator for the Ontario Teachers Federation, a volleyball official in his 51st year, a Knight of Columbus and a community activist. Lion Jim has been married to Linda for 38 years and they have three children. 5 2018-2019 1st Vice District Governor Lloyd Soucie Lion Lloyd first joined the Fort Kent Lions Club on 12/01/1987. In 1999, he took a leave of absence due to job commitments; then came back in 2007, after retiring from an education career of 34 years during which time he taught, coached and served as a guidance director. In his first stint, Lion Lloyd served as Treasurer and Secretary of the club. Upon his return in ’07, he served another term as Secretary prior to accepting the position of President in 2014, culminated by being named President of the Year in District N1 by PDG Lucio Cordisco. Other awards have included a District Governor’s Appreciation Award in 2016; the President’s Achievement Award for Fort Kent in 2016, and the Fort Kent Lions ‘Lion Heart Award’ in 2017 for outstanding service to the club and community. Lion Lloyd has been the publisher of the Ft. Kent Lions biweekly bulletin, has chaired the Membership, Scholarship, Nominations and Installation Banquet committees, in addition to being its Program chair, responsible for finding and scheduling speakers for meetings. He has also assisted with the annual Boy Scout Bar-B-Q in cooking 800 ½ chickens to support our Troop 189, sponsored by the Fort Kent Lions. Lion Lloyd has served several terms on the Univ. of Maine at Fort Kent Alumni Association Board of Directors, serving as the Alumni Board President for 12 of those years, being termed out this year, is currently the Vice President of the Elderly Social Council (Senior Club) of Fort Kent, is currently the Chair of the town’s Budget Committee and a Eucharistic minister at St. Louis Catholic Church. With this, Lion Lloyd can often be seen at Fort Kent Community High School and Univ. Maine at Fort Kent athletic events. Lion Lloyd has been married 46 years to his wife Leonette (Lee), with 2 children and 5 grandkids. Lion Lloyd looks forward to serving and growing the district. 6 2017‐2018 Paul Gauthier 2ndVice District Governor Lion Paul Gauthier joined the Parkdale Sherwood Lions Club in July 2002. He and his wife: Mabel reside in Stratford PEI and have 2 sons. Paul has been employed with Maritime Electric as a System Operator, the past 40 years. Since joining lions, Paul has attended most conventions of the District and Multiple District. Lion Paul has attended the USA Canada Forum in Anchorage Alaska and the International Convention in Toronto. He has held many positions at Club and at District level, to name a few: President of Parkdale Sherwood Lions Club 2010-11 Five times Secretary for his home club- Parkdale Sherwood Was a Club Board Member from 2004-2018 Sits as a Board Member of his clubs Lions Senior Housing complex 2007-2018 Club Chairperson for Special Projects 2007-2018 At District level, Lion Paul held the position of; PEI Director of Lions Foundation of Canada 2015-18 and was Vice Chair in 2018 Cavalcade Chair for his home club representing PEI, 2006-2013 Zone Chairman 2014-15 CDA Liaison 2012-2017 and Chairperson in 2016 PEI Diabetes Chair 2007-2014 Lion Paul has received numerous awards for his efforts from his club and district. Parkdale Sherwood Club Lion of the Year(2) Club President Appreciation Award (3) Lions International Certificate of Achievement (2) Lions International Letter of Commendation Judge Brian Stevenson Progressive Judge Brian Stevenson Award Harry A Newman Award Lion Paul is a Melvin Jones Fellow Lion Paul looks forward to serving District N-1 as 2ndVDG and is eager to continue helping our District grow. 7 2018 -2019 PCC Susan Sangster Cabinet Secretary Susan joined the Barkers Point Northside Lions Club in early 2006 after serving 22 years as a ``Partner in Service`` in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. She has enjoyed serving in many positions at her club including Speakout Chair, Purina Walk for Dog Guides, working and chairing fund raising events as well as Club President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director. Lion Susan has served as a presenter at the District N-1 Officer Training seminars and is an FDI graduate. She has been the Multiple District N Budget and Audit Chair, Constitution and By-Laws Chair and Webmaster. She is a Director for Lions Quest Canada. Lion Susan Sangster was elected to serve the great District N-1 as District Governor at their Annual Convention held in April 2014. She also served Multiple District N As Council Chair the following year.
