REMEMBER THIS SONG? a 2004 Musical Quiz Manus: Claes Nordenskiöld Producent: Claes Nordenskiöld Sändningsdatum: 17/11, 2004 Längd: 14’35 Over to You ht 2004 Remember This Song? Programnr:41495ra10 REMEMBER THIS SONG? A 2004 Musical Quiz Manus: Claes Nordenskiöld Producent: Claes Nordenskiöld Sändningsdatum: 17/11, 2004 Längd: 14’35 Music: The Hives “Walk Idiot Walk” Claes Nordenskiöld: Welcome to Remember This Song? – the yearly program that gives you a chance to remember a few of the hits of the past year. What you heard in the beginning and right now in the background, is of course The Hives and “Walk Idiot Walk” from their latest album “Tyrannosaurus Hives”. Now, whatever kind of music you like, whether it’s hip-hop, heavy metal, rock or pop, there’ll hopefully be something for you in this program. What you need is a piece of paper and a pencil. I’m looking for a name with 10 letters, which make up the answer. It’s actually two names – a first and a last name, a surname – and together they have ten letters. Anyway, just write the numbers 1 to 10 on the left-hand side of your paper. And as always, I will play parts of several songs. Each part is a clue to the answer. The clues may be the title of a song, the name of a group or a singer, and so on. You may not be able to answer every single question, but you’ll still have a good chance to get the final answer, which I’ll give at the end of the show. So, let’s get started with the clue for number 5. The group Outkast consists of Andre 3000 and Big Boi. They are from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States, and their career took off in 1994 when their first single was released. Since then, Outkast have had a number of huge hits including the one I’m looking for the name of. This was a hit in 2003 and in the beginning of 2004. Write the first letter of this song by Outkast at number 5. Music: Outkast “Hey Ya” 1 Over to You ht 2004 Remember This Song? Programnr:41495ra10 CN: At number 5, write the first letter in the name of that song by Outkast. Now on to number 7, and one of the smash hits in Sweden in 2004. Believe it or not, but two bands had a hit with this song – Haiducii as well as another boy band. What is the name of the band? Write the first letter in the band’s name at number 7. Music: O-Zone “Dragostea Din Tei” CN: Who performed that song? Write their name at number 7. Here’s 3, which I think will be a little bit more difficult… But don’t worry, you ‘ll probably solve the quiz anyway… Guns n’ Roses were extremely popular in the early 90’s, and their greatest hits CD has sold gold this past year in Sweden. But several of the members of Guns n’ Roses have formed a new band. I’m looking for the second word in their name at number 3. Music: Velvet Revolver “Slither” CN: You heard “Slither” by… Well, what is the name of the new band formed by members of Guns n’ Roses? Remember that you have to write the first letter of the second word of their name. Write it at number 3. By the way, did you know that in Sweden an album has to sell 30,000 copies to go gold, and 60,000 to turn platinum. A single, on the other hand, has to sell 10,000 copies to reach gold status and 20,000 for platinum. Just a couple of fun figures. Now, on to 9. Britney Spears latest album is called “In the Zone” and it contains several hits, such as “Toxic” as well as this one. I’m looking for the title of this song by Britney, which has been a big hit for her during the past year. Write the first letter of the title at number 9. Music: Britney Spears “Everytime” CN: What is the title of that song by Britney Spears? Write the first letter of the title at number 9. Time for number 6. Moneybrother took the Swedish music scene by storm last fall and this song was a hit all spring. I’m looking for the name of the girl in the title of the song that starts “It’s Been Hurting All the Way with You…”. Write the first letter of that girl’s name at number 6. 2 Over to You ht 2004 Remember This Song? Programnr:41495ra10 Music: Moneybrother “It’s Been Hurting All The Way With You, Joanna “ CN: Who was the girl that Moneybrother sang about? Write the first letter of her name at number 6. And on to 10. This time we’ll listen to the soundtrack of a very successful movie. The theme song to this movie was performed by Ana, who is from Sweden. She started out in the group Excellence, that became famous through the TV show Popstars. The song is called “We Are”, but I’m looking for the first letter in the name of the movie. Write it at number 10. Music: Ana “We Are” CN: “We Are” – the theme song to one of this year’s biggest movies. Write the first letter in the name of the film at number 10. Now, here’s number 1. This girl grew up in London, her parents are from New Zealand, and her siblings are also into music and very successful. She’s had several hits in 2004 – “Single” and this song “These Words”. At number 1, I want you to write the first letter in her first name. Music: Natasha Bedingfield “These Words” CN: Who sang “These Words”? Write her first name at number 1. And now, for number 4, we’re going to listen to Marit Bergman. Marit’s new album “Baby Dry Your Eye” has put her on the album charts once again, and several songs made it into the singles charts. For number 4, I want you to write the title of this song. Write the first letter… Music: Marit Bergman “ Adios Amigos” CN: Marit Bergman… Write the first letter in the title of that song at number 4. Only two letters left. Here’s the clue for number 8. Gwen Stefani, the front-figure of this band comes from Anaheim in California, and her band has been producing hits for more than 10 years. I’m looking for the first letter in their name and I want you to write it at number 8. Here’s their hit “It’s My Life” Music: No Doubt “It’s My Life” 3 Over to You ht 2004 Remember This Song? Programnr:41495ra10 CN: Gwen Stefani’s band in “It’s My Life”. Write the first letter in the band’s name at number 8. So, we’re at the last letter – number 2. This legendary artist has been around since the 60s. He used to lead a band called Black Sabbath and continued on to a solo career, which has given him cult status. You may know him best from the TV series about him and his family. For number 2, I’m looking for the first letter in his first name… Here he is with Black Sabbath in “Paranoid” from 1970. Music: Black Sabbath “Paranoid” CN: Black Sabbath and “Paranoid”. At number 2, I was looking for the first name of their singer who is somewhat of a cult figure today with a large following and his own TV show. Music: D12 “My Band” CN: Alright, time’s up – get ready for the answers. Here we go: The first letter was N – for Natasha Bedingfield. The second letter was O – for Ozzy Osbourne, the rock n’ roll icon. Number three was R – for Revolver in Velvet Revolver. The fourth letter was A – for “Adios Amigos” performed by Marit Bergman. The fifth letter was H – for “Hey Ya” by Outkast. Number six was J – for Joanna, as in Moneybrother’s “It’s Been Hurting All the Way with You, Joanna”. The seventh letter was O – O-Zone. The eighth letter was N – for No Doubt. The ninth letter was E – for “Everytime” by Britney Spears. And finally the tenth and last letter was S – for the movie “Spider- Man 2”. And the answer? The answer is NORAH JONES – the enormously popular American artist who sings jazz, pop, rock, folk, country – you name it! – and whose two CD’s “Come Away With Me” and this year’s “Feels Like Home” have sold tens of millions of copies around the world. When this program was recorded “Come Away With Me” had spent 99 weeks on the Swedish sales lists. Pretty impressive… Hope you’ve had a good time listening to the program. I’m Claes Nordenskiöld, thanks for listening, and here’s “Sunrise” with Norah Jones. Music: Norah Jones ”Sunrise” 4.

  • Rock Album Discography Last Up-Date: September 27Th, 2021
Rock Album Discography Last up-date: September 27th, 2021 Rock Album Discography “Music was my first love, and it will be my last” was the first line of the virteous song “Music” on the album “Rebel”, which was produced by Alan Parson, sung by John Miles, and released I n 1976. From my point of view, there is no other citation, which more properly expresses the emotional impact of music to human beings. People come and go, but music remains forever, since acoustic waves are not bound to matter like monuments, paintings, or sculptures. In contrast, music as sound in general is transmitted by matter vibrations and can be reproduced independent of space and time. In this way, music is able to connect humans from the earliest high cultures to people of our present societies all over the world. Music is indeed a universal language and likely not restricted to our planetary society. The importance of music to the human society is also underlined by the Voyager mission: Both Voyager spacecrafts, which were launched at August 20th and September 05th, 1977, are bound for the stars, now, after their visits to the outer planets of our solar system (mission status: https://voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/status/). They carry a gold- plated copper phonograph record, which comprises 90 minutes of music selected from all cultures next to sounds, spoken messages, and images from our planet Earth. There is rather little hope that any extraterrestrial form of life will ever come along the Voyager spacecrafts. But if this is yet going to happen they are likely able to understand the sound of music from these records at least.
