ACCOMMODATION Participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation arrangements themselves. The Host of the meeting suggested having the meeting in the vicinity of Vilnius City (27 km), in the historic town of Trakai. The participants of the meeting are recommended to stay at Trasalis – Trakai Resort and Spa Centre. When doing the on-line reservation you can switch languages in the upper right corner of the page. The accommodation per person per night in a standard room costs about 52 euros. Otherwise, you are free to find accommodation according to your own preferences. Likewise, the Host will offer transfer from Trakai to the airport after the meeting on the second day either from the hotel or meeting venue. Besides, the Host will arrange transfers in Trakai between the hotel and the meeting venue in the course of the meeting. Otherwise, you may choose independent traveling. Below are few travelling tips. At the airport, the bus stops and taxi stations are situated in front of the terminal. Travelling from Vilnius Airport (Oro uostas) to Vilnius, your choices of transportation to downtown Vilnius are: (i) City Bus 1 (takes about 15-20 minutes) to Vilnius bus Station (Stotis). Price: 3,50 Litas and ticket can be purchased from the driver. Price: 3,00 Litas. (iii) Shuttle train to the Vilnius Train Station. The railway stop is outside the terminal. The shuttle train does not travel frequently – below is the schedule. Anyway, the Airport Express shuttle bus and shuttle train seem to be more convenient and faster than City Bus #1. Here are a couple of numbers: "Martono taksi" +370 5 240 00 04 "Merselita" +370 5 2555 555 Taking any random taxi that waits outside the airport might be expensive, even though the drivers say it depends on the taxi meter. The passengers should give a notice to the taxi driver that they know the approximate price for this distance in order not to be deceived. Traveling from Vilnius to Trakai Town can be done by bus or by train. The bus station and the train station in Vilnius are located opposite each other. By bus From Vilnius Bus Station. Buses from Vilnius to Trakai leave rather frequently. Departure platforms: 6,7,8 (suburban buses), 28 and 29 (intercity bus, via Alytus).     BESTFACT second International Workshop on e-Freight: “East West Corridor information exchange” – Collaborate – Communicate – Harmonize – Adapt – Control – 18th & 19th June 2013 in Vilnius Venue: Lithuanian Railways, Mindaugo Gatvė 12, Vilnius, Lithuania General information The BESTFACT (Best Practice Factory for Freight Transport) project is a Coordination and support action under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. On Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 of June 2013, BESTFACT will organise its third international workshop, which is the second on e-Freight. The workshop is hosted by Lithuanian Railways and will take place at its premises in Vilnius, Lithuania. In practice, BESTFACT intends to develop, disseminate and enhance the utilisation of best practices and innovations in freight logistics which contribute to meeting European transport policy targets: promoting the boost of competitiveness and decreasing the environmental impacts. This second international cluster workshop on e-Freight will deal with the top issues, such as corridor information exchange and information management under changing logistics. Well-known representatives from the private and public sector will present in the first session current examples of best practices and results of collaboration and exchange along transport corridors. In second session it will be discuss how e-Freight can support logistics to be adapted under future logistic challenges in the Baltic Region notably on green corridors. Furthermore, it will present the main targets and challenges in freight transport and logistics and other high priority aspects in the fields of infrastructure, technology and organisation. Finally, a technical visit to the Control Center of Lithuanian Railways will offer the opportunity to see some state-of-the-art solutions for managing transporting goods along East-West corridors.
