Josef's School was among the lucky nine schools in Denmark, who received the recognition as a science talent school through the Certificate of Science and Talent. The presentation of the certificate was presented at a conference and ceremony in Sørø. The certificate as a talent school issued by Science Talenter (Science Talents), is supported by the government and given to schools that create a culture where students can develop within the natural sciences. Schools make learning available where teachers and students are enriched in the sciences, can attend courses and collaborate with higher education institutions and businesses. Science Talenter is working towards getting more young people into technical and scientific education. Science Talenter helps to inspire teachers and organise camps and events for young talented scientists. The school is proud of this achievement, and continues to develop the science talents and see them flourish in the years ahead. Roskilde was a Viking trading place more than 1000 years ago. At the Viking Ship Museum you can see remains of Viking ships from the 11th century and sail like a Viking out on the fjord. In the centre of Roskilde is Roskilde Cathedral, the burial place of Danish kings and queens. The church is an early example of French-influenced gothic architecture and features on UNESCO’s list of world cultural heritage. Roskilde also offers a modern cultural life with pedestrianised shopping streets and squares. During the summer, Roskilde Festival, which is northern Europe’s largest culture and music festival, attracts thousands of people. In July, fans pour into town for the four-day Roskilde Festival, which vies with Glastonbury for the title of Europe’s biggest rock festival.

The aim of this dissertation is to represent as clearly as possible the genre of Viking- Age runic plates by developing readings and interpretations of the inscriptions on the 46 metal plates with runes from the Viking Age known today. Several investigations SOFIA PERESWETOFF-MORATH • • PERESWETOFF-MORATH SOFIA Viking-Age Runic Plates of the runic plates have been conducted with a stereomicroscope for this purpose. As well as providing new readings and interpretations, this study has resulted in clarification of the relationship between the form and content of the inscriptions on the runic plates on the one hand and on their find circumstances and appearance on the other.
