Despite Market Resession, Hero Honda Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, January 02, 2021 HERO MOTOSPORTS TEAM RALLY BEGINS ITS FIFTH DAKAR CAMPAIGN ON A POSITIVE NOTE SEBASTIAN BUHLER FINISHES THE PROLOGUE STAGE AT 5th POSITION, JROD AT 10th Hero MotoSports Team Rally, the rally racing team of Hero MotoCorp - world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, began its campaign at the 43rd edition of the most grueling race on the planet - the Dakar Rally - in Jeddah today. Participating in its fifth consecutive Dakar Rally, the Hero MotoSports Team Rally is being represented by a three-rider team - Joaquim Rodrigues (Competitor No. 27), C S Santosh (Competitor No. 50) and Sebastian Buhler (Competitor no. 24), the latest addition to the team. Starting their campaign on positive note, the team took on the short 11 km long Prologue stage to decide the starting order of the first stage, with the three riders – Sebastian Buhler, Joaquin Rodrigues and C S Santosh finishing in 5th, 10th and 35th place respectively. Having earlier completed all the administrative and technical checks successfully, the confident trio rolled off the ceremonial podium today to mark the official beginning of their Dakar 2021 campaign in Jeddah. With the starting orders locked in, the first stage on the 3rd of January, 2021 will take the riders from Jeddah to Bisha with a 277 km special stage and a total run of 622 kms including the transport sections. The Team’s road to Dakar 2021 was disrupted by the COVID-19 enforced restrictions, providing little opportunities for training and development through the year. However, making the most of the limited opportunities the team managed to quickly regroup and spent valuable time in training and developing their new bike in Portugal and Spain. As the motor sports activities gradually resumed across the globe, they had two very productive and successful outings in the Andalucia Rally and the BAJA Portalegre, winning the latter, with Sebastian Buhler and Joaquim Rodrigues securing the 1st and the 2nd place respectively. Page 1 of 2 With this win, Sebastian was crowned the winner of the FIM BAJA World Cup, giving Hero MotoSports Team Rally their first BAJA World Cup win and the first win of this season. Wolfgang Fischer, Team Manager, Hero MotoSports Team Rally said, “We are here at the start of the Dakar Rally 2021 in Saudi Arabia, the same place where we left last time after the traumatic loss of our dear friend Paulo. It was a challenging year for the team but thanks to all the support we received from our Chairman Dr Pawan Munjal and entire Hero family and everyone around us, we are back here to race our limits once again with a fully motivated team and a new bike. Today we kicked off the proceedings with the 11 km prologue stage and everything went very well. Now we are ready for the first big stage of the Dakar tomorrow.” Joaquim Rodrigues (Competitor No. 27) said, “We started with the Prologue stage today so I am happy to start another Dakar Rally. I had a strange feeling in the beginning but overall, I am feeling good and the bike is running very well too so I am happy with the results. Looking forward to the first real stage of the Dakar 2021 tomorrow.” C S Santosh (Competitor No. 50) said, “Today we did the prologue stage and as with every Dakar, there were a lot of nerves, excitement and butterflies in the stomach. It was only 11 kms today but I had a good feeling on the bike. There's two weeks of racing ahead of us and I am looking forward to spending these on the motorcycle and ride as fast as I can.” Sebastian Buhler (Competitor No. 24) said, “It was a short prologue stage today but it went very good. I finished 5th which I think is a good position to start the real stage tomorrow. It is going to be a long and tough stage but we have prepared well, so we will see how it goes from here.” Provisional Rankings – Prologue Stage 1. Ricky Brabec Monster Honda Team 06m 01s 2. Worcester & Hereford Advanced Motorcyclists September 2015 The Chairman’s Notes Welcome to the WHAM Newsletter It has been great to see so many of you out on a Sunday ride and at our Slow Riding Day this Summer. Firstly congratulations to Gary Barnes on passing his Masters test with flying colours. I know he put a lot of effort into preparing for the various aspects of the I have had my riding filmed to enable me to visualise feedback and ascertain my riding style in corners and when overtaking. This was part of training. Many of us have cameras for both personal use and training purposes. Please consider how you use them for private use, when with club members. Please ask permission before filming and never put videos in the public domain without prior consent. The club has protocols for training with cameras but we rely on your mutual respect and common sense towards fellow club members. Tony Davies and Ali Lewis have done a fantastic job organising the weekend to Exmoor and sorting routes. The accommodation was comfortable with good food. Spookily – why do fish and chips taste better by the sea? We all happily tucked into the local delicacy whilst avoiding seagulls! Thanks also to Den for organising probably the best Slow Riding Day WHAM have offered. What a fantastic turn-out. • Flag Bearer of the Recovery in Automotive Segment
Sector Report 2 Wheelers 28th August, 2020 Auto 2 Wheelers in a sweet spot – Flag bearer of the recovery in Automotive Segment Indian two-wheelers faced a severe downturn in FY20 and are expected to fall further in FY21 due to COVID-19 and BSVI cost push; however, volumes should rebound by FY22E and FY23E on two years of low base. In light of COVID-19 pandemic, we expect the industry volumes to fall by ~12% in FY21E, followed by strong growth of ~18% and ~14% in FY22E and FY23E. We are bullish on the Indian 2W industry over the next 2-3 years. The auto volumes are back by almost adecade whereas the margins are at cyclical lows; we expect multi-fold earnings growth in the recovery period. We believe Hero Motocorp Ltd will outperform its peers on the back of strong rural demand and preference for entry-level motorcycles. Eicher Motors with its strong franchise and a renewed focus on new products is expected to do well. We are of the opinion that TVS Motors is trading at significantly higher multiples in comparison to other 2 wheeler OEMs and hence we expect limited upside from current levels. We assume coverage on the two-wheeler industry with a BUY rating on Hero Motocorp Ltd (Hero), HOLD rating on Eicher Motors Ltd (EIM) and a SELL rating on TVS Motors Ltd (TVSL). We upgrade our rating from HOLD to BUY on Bajaj Auto Ltd (BJAUT). Covid-19 and Key Regulatory Changes amidst weak cycle India's two-wheeler (2W) industry saw its worst downturn in a decade as volumes fell by 18% YoY in FY20 amid weakening economy and regulatory changes leading to higher insurance and road tax.

  • 2014 ROYAL ENFIELD CONTINENTAL GT – FIRST RIDE the Other New Indian Is an Ace Café Racer Ready to Take on the World
2014 ROYAL ENFIELD CONTINENTAL GT – FIRST RIDE The Other New Indian is an Ace Café Racer ready to take on the world. September 18, 2013 By John Burns Photographer: John Burns and Rich Cox If “heritage” and “authenticity” are what motorcycles are all about going forward, then no company is better equipped to prosper than Royal Enfield The company’s roots date back to the 19th century, and its Bullet—whose engine the new Continental GT is based upon—was first produced in 1933. That makes the Bullet the oldest motorcycle in the world in continuous production. In 1967, RE shuttered its plant in Redditch, England. But by then, its subsidiary in India had already been stamping out Bullets for years, for use not only by the Indian police and military, but for upscale civilians as well. In India, where there are millions of 125 and 250cc bikes providing transportation for 1.2 billion inhabitants, the Bullet in 350 and 500cc sizes is an aspirational motorcycle. Harley-Davidson in the U.S. has nothing on RE in India, which claims 95 percent of the over-250cc home market. That number is aided by a 60- percent tariff on imported motorcycles that pushes bikes like the 883 Sportster and Honda CBR600RR into the realm of exotica—and which has led H-D and others to open their own Indian plants in recent years. The rise of the Indian middle class has driven demand for its bikes through the roof lately, says Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director and CEO of Eicher Motors Ltd., Royal Enfield’s parent company.
