Através do Quadribol enquanto esporte, a IQA se esforça para melhorar a educação de gênero em todos os esportes e comunidades, promover a igualdade e a diversidade, além de promover um amor pela leitura em todas as idades. A organização trabalha para promover o engajamento, liderança e a atividade entre jogadores e potenciais jogadores onde quer que eles sejam encontrados. História O Quadribol da vida real foi criado em uma tarde ensolarada de domingo em 2005 por Xander Manshel e por Alex Benepe, estudantes na faculdade de Middlebury em Vermont, EU. Seu ocioso passatempo de domingo lançou as bases para o esporte de contato e pioneiro na questão de inclusão de gênero jogado hoje. Eles começaram a jogar regularmente intramuros, e em 2007 realizou-se o primeiro jogo inter-colegial. Em 2008, ocorreu um campeonato, na época chamado de Copa do Mundo, com a participação de 13 equipes, com uma equipe da Universidade McGill de Quebec, Canadá, foi o primeiro competidor não-americano que o esporte tinha visto. À medida que mais escolas criaram equipes e diversos meios de comunicação começaram a tomar conhecimento da existência do esporte, ficou claro que o esporte precisava de uma liderança mais formal. A IQA, que também funcionou como o órgão organizador dos EUA, foi incorporada como um negócio sem fins lucrativos em 2010. Em 2011, a IQA organizou a Copa do Mundo V em Nova York, um torneio de 96 equipes com competidores dos EUA, Canadá, Finlândia e mais de 10.000 espectadores. No mesmo ano, a recém-formada Associação Australiana de Quadribol organizou seu primeiro grande torneio e o primeiro evento fora da América do Norte, a Copa QUAFL, em Nova Gales do Sul. Em 2012, a IQA hospedou equipes nacionais dos Estados Unidos, Canadá, Reino Unido, França e Austrália em Oxford, Inglaterra, para os Global Games inaugurais, um torneio bi-anual mostrando os talentos dos melhores jogadores de todo o mundo, o que ocorreu ao lado de uma cerimônia da tocha para os Jogos Olímpicos de Londres. Os jogos estimularam o interesse e o crescimento no quidditch em toda a Europa, e as organizações nacionais que governam o esporte surgiram em todo o mundo. A segunda edição dos Global Games ocorreu em 2014 em Burnaby, Colúmbia Britânica, Canadá. Sete países competiram pela glória ante centenas de fãs no campo e milhares mais online. Também nesse ano, a antiga IQA se re-lançou como US Quidditch para gerenciar o esporte nos EUA e estabeleceu uma equipe de transição dedicada para construir uma nova IQA com um foco exclusivamente internacional. Em 2016 a terceira edição dos Global Games foi nomeada para IQA World Cup (Copa do Mundo da IQA). A competição ocorreu em Frankfurt, Alemanha, e apresentou 21 times 4 de quatro continentes diferentes. A Austrália sagrou-se campeã ao vencer os antigos bicampeões, os Estados Unidos. A IQA atende a aproximadamente 20 organizações e países praticantes de Quadribol em seis continentes, assim como os milhares de jogadores e fãs que esses grupos representam. INTRODUÇÃO O esporte do quadribol tem visto recentemente uma intensa expansão internacional. Com 21 equipes competindo na Copa do Mundo de Quadribol IQA 2016, a necessidade de um livro de regras codificado e singular para que se regule através do mesmo a competição internacional nunca foi tão importante. Enquanto o esporte se expande e evolui, a responsabilidade do livro de regras de acompanhar o ritmo ao endereçar desenvolvimentos de rápida progressão da forma como o esporte é jogado permanece. O livro de regras deve ser proativo e capaz de endereçar as questões de segurança e de jogo de um esporte que continua a evoluir em ritmo sem precedentes, em todos os continentes ao redor do mundo. O quadribol não é mais apenas um esporte de fundo de quintal: pode ser jogado em campo aberto ou para um público de milhares. Quaisquer que sejam as condições de jogo, o livro de regras precisa ter uma resposta consistente para como o jogo deve funcionar. Esse livro de regras é baseado no nono livro de regras da USQ e seu conteúdo central será familiar para vários seguidores e jogadores experientes. Contudo, há algumas mudanças que levam em consideração a natureza do jogo internacional, colocando a segurança dos jogadores e a integridade do jogo como pontos focais do livro de regras. Para aqueles de vocês que sejam novos ao esporte do quadribol, recomendamos que aprendam as regras básicas com amigos, companheiros de time e a partir da visão geral em 1.1 Quadribol: uma visão geral antes de ler a totalidade deste livro de regras. April 2011 ABSTRACT The exponential growth of digital information available in Enterprises and on the Web creates the need for search tools that can respond to the most sophisticated informational needs. Retrieving relevant documents is not enough anymore and finding entities rather than just textual resources provides great support to the final user both on the Web and in Enterprises. Many user tasks would be simplified if Search Engines would support typed search, and return entities instead of just Web pages. For example, an executive who tries to solve a problem needs to find people in the company who are knowledgeable about a certain topic. Aggregation of information spread over different documents is a key aspect in this process. Finding experts is a problem mostly considered in the Enterprise setting where teams for new projects need to be built and problems need to be solved by the right persons. In the first part of the thesis, we propose a model for expert finding based on the well consolidated vector space model for Information Retrieval and investigate its effectiveness. We can define Entity Retrieval by generalizing the expert finding problem to any entity.

    2018-19 ANNUAL REPORT 1 WELCOME LETTER CONTENTS After battling through the worst weather related crisis USQ has Welcome Letter 2 ever faced, I will never forget the medal ceremony of USQ Cup 12, Our Organization 4 About US Quidditch 4 in the early hours of Monday, April 15, 2019. Inclement weather Strategic Plan 6 led to a staggering six hour delay on day one of competition. My Programs 12 Membership 12 staff and I were both exhilarated and exhausted by the end of the Events 17 tournament. We had done it. Our volunteers had done it. Our Education & Resources 20 Initiatives 22 teams had done it. Media Coverage 24 Weather is a fact of life for any outdoor sport, Our People 25 and as such, USQ has worked inclement weather Supporters 30 planning into all aspects of event operations. Financials 33 USQ Cup 12 tested all of that prep work. Backup turf fields, a communication plan for getting updates to attendees, alternative gameplay schedules, we used everything in our toolkit to ensure that the event could happen safely and as true to our original plans as possible. To our event staff that weekend and to our partners at the Round Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau, thank you so much. You all did incredible work. On May 16, 2019, a brand new award program for year round USQ volunteers—the USQ Services Awards—were presented. Year-round volunteers for USQ for five or more years received this award. In the inaugural year, they were presented to 11 people, many of which worked to help make USQ Cup 12 happen.
