Nebraska Right to Life 1 NEBRASKA RIGHT TO LIFE LINCOLN AROUND THE NEBRASKA STATE The 44th an- nual Nebraska Walk for Life, sponsored WALK FOR LIFE by Nebraska Right to Life, was held Saturday, January 27th at the State Capitol and UN-L Student Union in Lincoln. 5,000 pro-lif- ers from around the State took part in the brief program at the Capitol and then marched down 14th Street to the Student Union. There, key- note speaker Ann McElhinney talked about her movie and book about abortion- ist Kermit Gosnell, who is serving a life sentence in prison for manslaughter of a patient and for the infanticide of unborn babies within his filthy Philadelphia, PA, clinic. We hope you will help us get “Gosnell” the movie in theaters across Nebraska upon its release! Kicking off the Capitol program were Governor Pete Ricketts, Lt. Governor Mike Foley, U.S. Senators Deb Fischer and Ben Sasse, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, State Senator Dan Watermeier and a number of other State Senators and elected officials who were introduced. 2 Nebraska Right to Life SAVE THE DATE Sunday, March 18, 2018 Monday, March 19, 2018 Hastings, Nebraska Columbus, Nebraska Tuesday, March 20, 2018 Lincoln, Nebraska Is Physician-Assisted Suicide Coming to Nebraska? In Nebraska, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland is the leading Title X grant recipient receiving nearly $300,000 per year. Under the pro-life language in LB 944, to be compliant: A. An organization can physically, legally and financially separate its abortion-related activities from its Title X ser- vices and still be eligible for Title X funds. Or, B: An organization can completely stop its abortion-related activities and remain as a clinic providing Title X services for women and men. How will this affect clinics that don’t aid in or refer for abortion? It won’t! Clinics and health centers not assisting in any way with abortion will remain fully eligible for Title X funds under the new provision. Will this cause women and men to lose health care services they need? The only reason anyone would lose access to Title X services under this provision would be if clinics involved in abortion-related activities refuse to follow the guidelines of the Title X funding program.
