The University was founded by Alessio Fontana, a distinguished gentleman of the town of Sassari, in 1558. The official opening dates back to the month of May 1562. It was firstly run by the Jesuits.

Dissemination and exploitation of research results promoting their transfer, specially to regional SMEs; Promoting and supporting the protection of IPR of researchers and University of Sassari; Promoting and supporting start up of new innovative companies and spin off from research; Promoting and supporting University to join and lead innovation and technology transfer programs and projects TTO now Business incubator

Established in 2014 to support business development from students, graduates, researchers and to accelerate market goals and strenghten network of local Innovative SMEs.

Clab, Contamination Lab, promotes entrepreneurship and innovation culture between students of different disciplines.

CLAB intends to stimulate young people's awareness of building new opportunities for their future. The aim is to expand and broaden the educational offering of the University by offering new prospects in which students develop, in a stimulating environment, innovative enterpreneurial projects.
