Chittagong District GEO Code based Unique Water Point ID Chittagong District Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) June, 2018 How to Use This Booklet to Assign Water Point Identification Code: Assuming that a contractor or a driller is to install a Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump in SULTANPUR village BEMARTA union of BAGERHAT SADAR uapzila in BAGERHAR district. This water point will be installed in year 2010 by a GOB-Unicef project. The site of installation is a bazaar. The steps to assign water point code (Figure 1) are as follows: Y Y Y Y R O O W W Z Z T T U U U V V V N N N Figure 1: Format of Geocode Based Water Point Identification Code Step 1: Write water point year of installation as the first 4 digits indicated by YYYY. For this example, it is 2010. Step 2: Select land use type (R) code from Table R (page no. 4). For this example, a bazaar for rural commercial purpose, so it is 4. Step 3: Select water point type of ownership (OO) from Table OO (page no. 4) . For this example, it is 05. Step 4: Select water point type (WW) code from Table WW (page no. 5). For this example, water point type is Shallow Tube Well with No. 6 Pump. Therefore its code is 01. Step 5: Assign district (ZZ), upazila (TT) and union (UUU) GEO Code for water point. The GEO codes are as follows: for BAGERGAT district, ZZ is 01; for BAGERHAR SADAR upazila, TT is 08; and for BEMARTA union, UUU is 151. Step 6: GEO codes for SULTANPUR village, VVV is 368. Step 7: Assign 3 digits serial number (NNN). If this is the first water point installed at BEMARTA union in year 2010 then assign serial number (NNN) 1 as 001. Serial number should be used only once in a fiscal year. The second water point installed by any projects, regardless of the type, as long as it is in the same union, it will receive a serial number of 002. This will be installed in year 2011 by the GOB-Unicef project into a Rural/Residential land. This is the first water point that BAGUTIA union is getting this year. What would be the water point identification code for this Water point ID? Correct Answer is below. What would be the water point identification code? Correct Answer is below. Step 1: YYYY = 2011 Step 5: District (ZZ) = 57 Step 2: Area & land type (R) = 8 Upazila (TT) = 87 Step 3: owner (OO) = 01 Union (UUU) = 001 Step 4: water point type (WW) = 06 Step 6: village (VVV) = No.: 98-05-752 Year: 1999 Abstract This study was conducted in two villages, namely, Pajulia and Jobra under Gazipur sadar and Hat Hazari thana in Gazipur and Chittagong district, respectively. The specific objective of the study was to empirically measure the profitability of okra and ash gourd vegetables and compare the profitability of IPSA developed okra and other okra and to examine their productivity and resource use efficiency. Primary data were collected from 60 vegetables growers from selected villages during 1999. Tabular and some functional input-output analyses were done in this study. It was found that per hectare gross costs of production of okra stood at Tk.49379, and Tk.48306 while per hectare gross return, net return above gross costs and net return above cash costs were Tk.97100, and Tk. 10910, Tk.47721 and Tk.60794, Tk.68821, and Tk.81819 in Gazipur and Hat Hathazari, respectively. Similarly per hectare gross costs of production of ash gourd stood at Tk.52140, and Tk.50317 while per hectare gross return, net return above gross costs and net return above cash costs were Tk.79600, and Tk.83600, Tk.27460 and Tk.33283, Tk.44788 and Tk.51553, in Gazipur and Hat Hazari, respectively. The per hectare gross costs of production of IPSA okra stood at Tk.31809, while per hectare gross return, net return above gross costs and net return above cash costs were Tk.

    Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Standing Orders on Disaster Ministry of Food and Disaster Management Disaster Management & Relief Division Disaster Management Bureau April 2010 Message I welcome the initiative of the Disaster Management Bureau (DMB) to publish the revised Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) aiming at ensuring every possible preparedness measure and reducing disaster risks. The SOD was first introduced in 1997 during our previous tenure in office. We are happy that the revised version of the SOD is being published now in accordance with the changed circumstances. The revised SOD has reflected the vision of the government and clearly outlines the role and responsibilities of the ministries, divisions, agencies, organizations, committees, public representatives and citizens to cope with any natural disaster. I hope that the DMB and Disaster Management and Relief Division in cooperation with other stakeholders will materialize the government commitments for disaster risk reduction and emergency response issues in line with SOD. Inst. 13(1): 87-101, 2016 (October), ISSN: 1606-9277 ESTIMATING URBAN FLOOD HAZARD ZONES USING SWMM IN CHITTAGONG CITY Aysha Akter1 and Ahad Hasan Tanim2 Abstract Identifying urban flood-prone areas with their relative hazard scale is the fundamental work of urban flood management. This may introduce using a probabilistic methodology by flood hazard zoning of potential urban flood hazard area. Based on statistical analysis of US EPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM) with a threshold value of maximum depth of each node of link network number of overflow events in a specified time period can be obtained. Further using Kernel hazard density the spatial analysis in ArcGIS can be used to obtain a GIS compatible maps for the hazard zoning of the potentially flood prone areas. In this study Chittagong city, the second largest city of Bangladesh has been taken as a case study and the wettest year 2014 was selected for model simulation. The validated model outcome reasonably identified the flood prone vulnerable zones which is comparable to the outcome of recent field studies. Thus, it is expected that the acquired flood hazard mapping will play major role once this is observed using details field data. Finally, this would provide flood risk information to the decision makers and flood protection works to prioritize the relatively more flood hazard zone for management purpose. Introduction Chittagong city area has experienced the highest number of flood incidence in last decades. Social environment, local economy and ecology have been hampered and degraded due to prolonged urban flooding.
