Many of our students have performed well as State level, National level & International Level. Recently Ms. Soumya Swaminathan became Women GrandMaster, Aniruddha Deshpande Won the State open Championship & very recently Mohit Shenvi finished 2nd in State U-13 Chess Championship. WGM Eesha Karavade has achieved her three Men IM Norms and waiting to touch 2400 mark to become the 1st Women player to become IM from Maharashtra. Recently Prathamesh Mokal made his 1st GM norm in Delhi in Jan 09. Apart from training in Pune, Academy has also held regular training camps by players like GM Ubilava – Trainer of World Champion V.Anand, IM NK Mishra, IM V. Koshy. Eesha Karavade won Bronze in the Women’s section. ASIAN YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP HELD AT SUBIC, PHILIPPINES FROM 14 TH TO 22 ND MAY, 2011. Indians won ten out of the twelve titles in the Asian Youth Chess Championship that concluded at Subic City in the Philippines on May 21, 2011. Girls won all the six titles. In the Under-12 section, Aravindh Chithambaram tied for first and won a silver medal. Among the winners, impressive was L.N.Ram Aravind of Tiruchi who became the only player to win all nine games in all 12 sections. Indians won 18 medals out of a maximum 36. India’s pet section was the Boys or Open Under-10 section and the Girls Under-10 section. We recorded podium sweeps there. All the three in both these sections scored the same number of points and tied for the first place.
