Building relationships and staying connected were common themes as Ricketti and Colalillo reminisced warmly about their experiences at Pennington. Ricketti spoke about her senior-year internship at Susan G. Meanwhile, Colalillo credited his abilities to converse with his college professors, connect with older students, and talk with alumni to the strong relationships he had with his teachers at Pennington. Ricketti and Colalillo were joined by Director of Alumni Relations Joanne McGann and Director of Leadership Giving Jemima Attanasio. McGann and Attanasio spoke to seniors about the importance of staying involved and connected, once they graduate, in order to maintain the many close relationships that they have built over their years at Pennington. They demonstrated the importance of annual giving with a graphic of Pennington’s annual budget as a cake, explaining that without the support of alumni, parents, and friends, there would be a large piece of that cake missing every year. The seniors then received a Pennington cupcake to thank them and encourage their future support. We think Colalillo expressed it best when he urged the seniors to "take pride in your school. Go out and represent Pennington in its finest light, and give back in whichever way you can." Well put! • June 2015 Honoring M
The Schwarz Report Dr. Fred Schwarz Volume 55, Number 6 Dr. David Noebel June 2015 Honoring M. Stanton Evans by Cliff Kincaid Those who assembled on March 12 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Leesburg, Virginia, to celebrate the life of conservative thinker and writer M. Stanton Evans heard several references to his monumental 1994 work, The Theme is Freedom. This book is worth remembering and re-reading as we are being treated repeatedly to the spectacle in the media of “conservatives” endorsing gay rights and gay marriage. In an illustration of what Stan called the “pagan ethic,” he cites on page 128 “the campaign to change societal views of homosexuality—to treat it as an ‘alternative lifestyle,’ as valid in its way as heterosexual conduct.” Stan comments, “Among other things, this is a reversion to pagan ways of thinking.” He cites acceptance of homosexuality in ancient civilizations such as Babylon and notes, “All of this was unequivocally condemned by the religion of the Bible.” Yet, as Austin Ruse points out in his Breitbart article, “GOP Elite Ask Supreme Court to Impose Gay Marriage on America,” a brief to celebrate homosexual “marriage” as equal to traditional marriage has been submitted to the court and signed by 300 conservatives and/or Republicans, including no less than 26 former senior Mitt Romney staffers. These so-called “conservatives,” who are not conservative in any real sense, are part of a “Project Right Side” that is designed to confuse the public about the meaning of the term. The “media” section of the website tells us how news organizations have covered the “conservative case for gay marriage.” But there is nothing “conservative” about asking the Supreme Court to impose homosexual marriage on all 50 states.

FEBRUARY 2017 All Hail the Queen! The image of Queen Victoria seared into popular culture is one of a dour older woman, swathed in black, looking as if she never cracked a smile. So when Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who), a beautiful slip of a woman, portrays her as joyful, it’s jolting. At age 18 — still known as Alexandrina, and playing with dolls—she is awakened one morning and informed she is now queen of England. Welcome to the world of Victoria, a new seven-part Masterpiece miniseries premiering this month on NJTV. Boasting grand sets, lush countryside, and political intrigue, the lavish series is one of the highlights of our popular Wednesday night drama line-up. Following Queen Victoria from her accession to the throne in 1837, through her education in politics, courtship, marriage, and epic 63-year reign, Victoria paints a portrait of a monarch who was raised to be the pawn of her powerful elders, but who wasted no time in showing the empire who was in charge. Apart from those occasions when prominent women such as Ellen DeGeneres, k.d. lang, and Rosie O'Donnell have publicly acknowledged their homosexuality, lesbians have been even less visible in television news reports than their gay male counterparts. Unfortunately, this, too, is unsurprising, given America's patriarchal culture, in which women are all too often not paid serious consideration. For most of television's history, news coverage of gay people and relevant issues, if it existed at all, was usually negative. Frequently, gay achievement was ignored; it was not unusual, for example, for television news reports of the 1973 election of Elaine Noble to the Massachusetts state legislature to fail to identify her as an openly lesbian politician.
