Ships of the Tzenkethi Coalition

Diffused Tetryon Beam The Tzenkethi use a diffused beam of tetryons as their primary energy weapons. These weapons resemble phasers but they also are debilitating to deflector systems. Diffused tetryon weapons grant the Versatile 1 and Piercing 1 Qualities.

Shuk-din Cruiser In their wars against other forces in the Alpha Quadrant, the Shuk-din-class cruiser is both patrol ship and frontline vessel. Hundreds of these ships move through Coalition space and keep it blocked off from other species. This is the first commission of many Tzenkethi officers but a large percentage choose to stay on Shuk-din vessels rather than be promoted to larger starships. There is an intimacy to the compact Shuk-din that is appealing to communally-minded Tzenkethi. On larger ships and colonies Tzenkethi soldiers will mix with other Echelons but onboard a Shuk-din cruiser they have only other soldiers to interact with. While not for everyone, this is a reassuring situation for many of the Lor Echelon.

The smallest of the Tzenkethi capital ships, the Shuk-din-class cruiser is fast and maneuverable but with the powerful tetryon weapons of the Tzenkethi Coalition. Their strong shields and powerful weapon systems allow Shuk-din cruisers to contend with much larger starships, though once their shields fail the Shuk-din has few resources to sustain direct hits.

Broln’ta Cruiser Many veterans of the recent Tzenkethi War refer to the Broln’ta-class as “Specter-of-Death” ships. While they are no worse than many other enemy warships in the Alpha Quadrant, even underperforming the notorious Galor-class cruisers of the Union, the Broln’ta class has become so feared because of its combined shield processing technology. The shield emitters of the Broln’ta class, like all Tzenkethi weapons, are particularly robust but the Broln’ta has the added ability to support nearby Tzenkethi vessels. By extending “processing beams” of concentrated energy to their allies, the Broln’ta-class cruiser can bolster their shields and allow the nearby vessel to concentrate on firing weapons and repairing breaches to their systems.

Because of their utility as support vessels, Broln’ta-class cruisers are common throughout the Tzenkethi Coalition and they form the heart of any Tzenkethi forces sent into combat zones. More than once during the recent war, Federation ships had their Tzenkethi adversaries routed when several Broln’ta-class cruisers dropped out of warp. Within minutes the battle had turned and it was that retreated. Official Starfleet tactics list a clear strategy for facing the Tzenkethi: physically separate any Broln’ta-class ships from the rest of the Tzenkethi forces or your impact on the enemy vessels will be quickly erased. This is easier said than done, of course, because the Tzenkethi are very much aware of the Broln’ta’s use and their ships protect these cruisers from interference by the enemy.

Rhas’bej Battleship Though usually supported by smaller ships, the Rhas’bej-class battleship is a combat vessel through and through. It’s advanced weaponry and powerful shields make it a dangerous foe to other ships, particularly when the enemy gets in range of its forward cannons. Though these powerful weapons make the Rhas’bej a serious adversary, it comes at the cost of power to their shield array. The Rhas’bej class still has a stronger set of shields than most ships of its size and warp core design but is actually less protected than the smaller Broln’ta class. This is one more reason why the Tzenkethi typically deploy their starships in groups when expecting combat.

Much of the time, however, Rhas’bej-class battleships serve as defensive vessels in Tzenkethi systems. They are large enough to support a varied crew and their sensor systems make them serviceable exploratory vessels as well. In addition to the Lor Echelon soldiers common aboard starships of the Tzenkethi Coalition, Rhas’bej-class ships often have contingents of scientists and astronomers mapping Tzenkethi space and engineers working on new weapons and shield designs.

Tzen’tar Dreadnought The size of a D’deridex-class warbird, the Tzen’tar-class dreadnought has the weapons sysetms and shields to contend with the best of what Starfleet has to send against the Coalition. Like the Rhas’bej-class battleship, the Tzen’tar’s forward tetryon cannons are its most powerful weapons so they try to keep close to the enemy’s major vessels to keep them in range. When backed up by one or two Broln’ta-class cruisers the Tzen’tar dreadnought can shed damage and deal out powerful blows with their weapons systems.

Because of the resources needed to construct and maintain a Tzen’tar-class vessel, the Coalition uses them only when needed. This includes, however, shows of force to keep the and from thinking they can advance into Tzenkethi territory. Usually there are more varied roles aboard a Tzen’tar-class vessel than just Lor Echelon soldiers but it is a ship of war not a science vessel. At its most versatile, the Tsen’tar might be dispatched with an ambassadorial delegation onboard when the Coalition feels that their message needs little subtlety.
