The Folldal copper mines are one of Norway’s ten most important cultural heritage monu- ments from the early industrial age. The mines have been made into an active museum operated by the Folldal Mines Founda- tion. The museum also houses an exhibition and provides infor- mation on the local national parks. 2 2 SOHLBERGPLASSEN (front page). The view of the Rondane mountains from Sohlbergplassen appears almost iden- tical to its depiction in the famous painting «Winter Night in the Mountains», created by Harald Sohlberg in 1914. Rest area with facilities for hikers, includ- ing a roof terrace, kiosk, service facilities and a long-term car park. Strømbu is the main point of departure for hikers heading into Rondane from the east. Bjørnhollia Tourist Lodge can be reached in a two-hour hike. This rest area is also a point of departure for hikes to the western mountains of the Alvdal valley and to Breisjøseter Tourist Lodge. Architect: Carl-Viggo 3 Hølmebakk. 4 SOLLIA CHURCH. Small rest area with an information board, located next to Sollia Church.
