HAPPY NEW YEAR MSCA President’s Letter

by Rick Plessner, IRC RETAIL CENTERS

THE NATIONAL ELECTION HAS PROVIDED US AN OPPORTUNITY TO REFLECT ON what contributions we have each made in shaping our national leadership. Based on the last several months of campaigning, there can be no doubt that President-elect Donald Trump is going to effect change. Initiatives toward tax reform, rebuilding infrastructure, reducing governmental regulations and job creation are expected to benefit our industry greatly.

How we each prepare and respond to these changes depends on how quickly we can recognize that change is in the making. By actively participating and contributing to the organized efforts of our Minnesota Shopping Center Association we can all benefit through the sharing of knowledge and experiences we incur and foresee with our membership. By continuing to organize our efforts through the various MSCA Committees, we can potentially predict and forecast change and respond proactively instead of reactively. MSCA offers nine different Committees for each of us to participate in.

Especially important is your participation in our monthly programs where we will continue to educate and inform you with industry topics relative to your business. I look forward to seeing you there every month.

With over 300 companies and 650 members we are a significant group of organized professionals that can influence the future of our business. Expanding your participation in our legislative initiatives will help to bring “change” that will put more of our tax dollars to work for our industry. Let’s shock our legislatures by accepting their invitation to meet with us regarding our initiatives on Legislative Day at the Capital.

I am honored to represent all MSCA members as your President for 2017. I look forward meeting those of you that I have not yet had the pleasure to meet. For all the members that already know me, I promise to dedicate myself to the betterment of MSCA over the upcoming year as much as I do to my business.
