As Christians, he says, we live in the "third advent" the time between Christ's frst coming and his coming in Glory. We are to live in and by God's Word, and THE SECOND SUNDAY OF to let him live in us. Please ponder his words below. There are resources in this ADVENT bulletin with some suggestions for growth in God's word - a Method of Prayer (ARRR), and information about how you and your family can take advantage this DECEMBER 6, 2020 Advent and Christmas (And anytime really) of all the amazing offerings on our Parish FORMED.org subscription! Let's all keep God's Word and continue to grow in Christ this Advent! And please take advantage of our extra Confession MASS INTENTIONS hours! – God love you, Fr Jeremy OMV Monday, December 7 "We know that the coming of the Lord is threefold: the third coming is between 6:30 am Margaret Sugent† the other two and it is not visible in the way they are. At his frst coming the 8:00 am Dorothy Mager† Lord was seen on earth and lived among men, who saw him and hated him. 5:15 pm Pauline Ceppenati† At his last coming All fesh shall see the salvation of our God, and They shall look on him whom they have pierced. In the middle, the hidden coming, only Tuesday, December 8 the chosen see him, and they see him within themselves; and so their souls are 6:30 am Int of Larry & Mary saved. The frst coming was in fesh and weakness, the middle coming is in spirit Roderfeld and power, and the fnal coming will be in glory and majesty. 8:00 am Julie Mulrean† This middle coming is like a road that leads from the frst coming to the last. 8:00 am Irene Jehle† At the frst, Christ was our redemption; at the last, he will become manifest as Noon Mike Fischer† our life; but in this middle way he is our rest and our consolation.. 5:15 pm OMV Vocations If you think that I am inventing what I am saying about the middle coming, listen to the Lord himself: If anyone loves me, he will keep my words, and the Wednesday , December 9 Father will love him, and we shall come to him. Elsewhere I have read: Whoever 6:30 am Ruth Ann Leese† fears the Lord does good things – but I think that what was said about whoever 8:00 am Andrew & Mary loves him was more important: that whoever loves him will keep his words. Forgas† Where are these words to be kept? In the heart certainly, as the Prophet says I have hidden your sayings in my heart so that I do not sin against you. Keep the Thursday, December 10 word of God in that way: Blessed are those who keep it. Let it penetrate deep 6:30 am Albert Walter† into the core of your soul and then fow out again in your feelings and the way 8:00 am Dora & Mike Luketich† you behave; because if you feed your soul well it will grow and rejoice. Do not forget to eat your bread, or your heart will dry up. Remember, and your soul Friday, December 11 will grow fat and sleek. 6:30 am Int of Fr. Michael Warren, OMV If you keep God’s word like this, there is no doubt that it will keep you, for 8:15 am Shirley Dunphy† the Son will come to you with the Father: the great Prophet will come, who will renew Jerusalem, and he is the one who makes all things new. For this is what Saturday, December 12 this coming will do: just as we have been shaped in the earthly image, so will 6:30 am David Delawder† we be shaped in the heavenly image. Just as the old Adam was poured into the 8:00 am Pro-Life Efforts whole man and took possession of him, so in turn will our whole humanity be taken over by Christ, who created all things, has redeemed all things, and will 5:15 pm Jack Scalese† glorify all things." Sunday, December 13 6:30 am The People of OFFERING ENVELOPE PICK-UP St. Mary’s The 2021 offering envelopes are ready to be picked up but things are, of course, 8:00 am Int of Fr. Ben going to be different this year. Mailing the envelopes is cost prohibitive so we Unachukwu, OMV are going to offer contactless pick up. If you have submitted a name for prayers in the bulletin THE SECOND SUNDAY OF ADVENT they will remain for one month. If you would like to ask the Focus: Stay awake, for the day of the Lord is at hand. parish to continue praying, please let the parish offce know by calling (618) 465-4284. Thank you for your prayers! The voice of God breaks into our world through sacred Scripture and the witness of modern-day disciples. Does it resound and echo in our thoughts, words, and actions, forming and shaping our lives? Or, is it dulled and dimmed by our worldly ways? Now is the time to listen, now is the time to act, for the kingdom of God is at hand. Please remember our brothers and sisters, who are in need of prayer. The prophet Isaiah speaks for the Lord in giving comfort to his people, proclaiming the service of Jerusalem at an end Kailey Almeter & the Almeter Family, Lucy Rose – and that her guilt is expiated. They are to prepare the way Lucas, Bill Haine, Naomi Fader, Barb Cronn, of the Lord, for the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and Everett O’Connor, Tom Grossheim, Jack Droste, he will shepherd them with care. In the second reading, Greg Weirich, Cathy Weirich, The Ringering Family, Peter writes to his community that the day of the Lord will come like a thief Mary Donahue, Sean Michael Donahue, Veronica . Therefore, they ought to conduct in holiness and devotion eager to be found Murray, Keith Houghton, Debra Houghton, Baby themselves … without spot or blemish before him. In the Gospel, John Olivia, Mary Jenniches, Phyllis Milford-Rill, Larry the Baptist heralds the coming of Jesus as he exhorts his Greenwell, Emilee Tate, Pat Gorman, Liam Maher, listeners to turn away from sin and be baptized.
