Interim 6 Monthly Report for the Cornwall Community Leadership Delivery Model Cornwall Community Leadership Delivery Model Year One Report (January 2007 – December 2007) Written by K Edmond December 2007 1 Summary Cornwall Community Leadership Delivery Model was scheduled to be signed off December 2006 in order for funding to be released in January 2007. Due to delays the Model was not given approval until July 2007, with the first year’s money being released August 2007. In order not to delay the positive links made with external organisations and the opportunities available to begin rolling out Year One of the model, Community Leadership Coordinator made the decision to start the first year of the model February 2007. The success of the first year was down to the support and funding of organisations such as: Cornwall Outdoors; Cornwall Pirates Learning Zone; Bishop Forum and Cornwall Youth Work Partnership, whom were prepared to fund their first courses, as well as Cornwall Sports Partnership funding the role of the Community Leadership Coordinator. Community Leadership Coordinator was able to deliver most of the awards in the first year, as well as partners having the support to deliver awards through their existing programmes. This has highlighted the opportunity for funding from Year One to extend delivery opportunities to more organisations. Year one has been a success with; 11 Awards being delivered 2 x Local Tutor Training Days 1 x Under Graduate Tutor Training Day in Plymouth 67 newly trained tutors 91 qualified leaders 2 Contents: 1.0 Background 2.0 Year One Outline Include chart showing the actual number of courses delivered Courses completed and delivered 3.0 Case Studies 4.0 Income & Expenditure Reports 5.0 Conclusions & Recommendations 6.0 Year Two Delivery Appendix: Appendix A Expenditure Appendix B Income Appendix C Resources Given Appendix 1. Flyers and leaflets produced to promote the courses delivery Appendix 6. Copy of the Leaders Portfolio being used with Level 1 & Level 2 Awards 3 1.0 Background Cornwall Sports Partnership has been partnership working with Sports Leaders UK over the last 5 years, developing both educational work and community work. In October 2002 Cornwall Sports Partnership (previously Active Sport) seconded a Sports Development Officer from Carrick Leisure to develop Leadership across Cornwall within educational establishments, in two years this work successfully had every secondary school and further education college delivering sports leadership awards. In recent years, 2005 onwards the Cornwall Sports Partnership has been focusing on developments across the county, working in particular with external agencies, including; Cornwall Youth Service, Voluntary Youth Organisations, Police, Connexions, and Local Authority Leisure Services and Sports Development Units. This led to a Community Steering Group being established in 2004 to support and coordinate developments across the county. This year to help secure funding to develop leadership through a three year model, Cornwall Sports Partnership agreed to match fund monies from Sports Leaders UK to develop and implement leadership opportunities across the county over a three year period. A Community Delivery Model for Leadership was written, emphasis being that funds would be used to set up courses, train new tutors and purchase resources. Match funding by CSP would pay for an officer to coordinate one day a week. The report provides information relating to courses delivered, case studies, and statistics. Support expenditure and income reports will be attached to this report showing how monies have currently been spent. 4 2.0 Outline table from the Community Delivery Model for Leadership – Year One Delivery Year one outcomes identified in Model: 1 x Tutor Training Day 2 x Young Leaders Award 2 x Level One in Sports Leadership 2 x Level Two in Community Sports Leadership 1 x Day Certificate in Sports Leadership Award Delivery Target Costings Young Leaders Delivery 2 x Young Leaders Cost of delivery: Award • Groups - No cost incurred for AAC as no need to be an • Delivered by CSP Leadership Co- accredited centre to deliver award ordinator or appointed community - 3 x Tutor Resources (for Community Tutor deliverer and shadowed by potential Trainers) @ £150 tutors = £450 1 x Local Tutor Training Day (linked to others - Tutor delivery cost @ £14ph x 8hours per awards) course (2 x courses) 3 courses = £224 36 young people - Tutor Training Day (this day will encompass training for all awards) = £250 - Travel – approximate 100miles @ 0.38pm = £38 Level 1 Sports Deliver 2 x Level 1 Sports Leaders Award Cost of delivery: Leadership • Community Groups - AAC Fees ( 2 x organisations) • Delivered by CSP Leadership Co- = £94 ordinator or appointed community - 3 x Tutor Resource = £120 (for community tutor deliverer and shadowed by potential deliverers) tutors - 24 x Candidate log books @ £11 = £264 1 x Local Tutor Training Day (linked to others - Tutor delivery cost @ £14ph x 24hours per awards course (2 x courses)= £672 2 courses - Tutor Training Day (this day will encompass 24 Young People (based on minimum of 12 training for all awards) = £250 per course) - Travel – approximate 200 miles @ 0.38pm = £76 Level 2 Deliver 2 x Level 2 Community Sports Leaders Cost of delivery Community Award - AAC Fees (2 x organisations) Sports • Community Organisations = £70 Leadership • Delivered by CSP Leadership Co- - 3 x Tutor Resource = £120 (for Community ordinator or appointed community Tutor Deliverers) deliverer and shadowed by potential - 24 x Candidate Log Books @ £22.00 tutors = £528 1 x Local Tutor Training Day (linked to others - Tutor delivery cost @ £14ph x 30hours per awards) course (2 x courses) 2 Courses = £840 24 Young People (based on 12 minimum - Tutor Training Day (this day will encompass per course) training for all awards) = £250 - Travel – approximate 400 miles @ 0.38pm = £152 Day Certificate - Package offered to organisations would include: in Sports 2 members of staff tutor trained Leadership 1st year AAC Fee covered (£40) 1 x Tutor Resource (£90) Support to set up first course - Cost of package to organisations:£250 This would generate potential income to support further development. THE MEMORIAL INSCRIPTIONS OF CORNWALL Cofscryvow Kernow THE PARISH OF MOUNT HAWKE Towl Bedhcryvow Kernow Numerous plaques, burial ground headstones, foundation stones and formal monuments record the lives or actions of both the famous and successful as well as the ordinary person. By far the most numerous of these will be found in burial grounds, others will be located on War Memorials; inscriptions are inevitably inscribed on foundation stones of public buildings; special plaques may be erected to record an heroic or notable event or birth place; there are prominent monuments to the rich or extraordinary such as the Bassett Monument on Carn Brea or the Lander statue at the top of Lemon Street in Truro; churches and chapels as well as community buildings often have wall plaques. The majority will date from the past three hundred years but some will be very old, such as a few ancient crosses from the seventh/eight centuries recording a chieftain or important person of that time. Written records such as parish baptism, marriage and death registers, diaries, deeds, court, taxes and voting records and numerous other “paper” records are, in varying degrees of efficiency, preserved and recorded by the County Records Office and museums and transcribed, indexed and published by local historians and societies. However, numerous records of the people of Cornwall may also be found on stone, slate, marble, wood and metal. Some of these (particularly in burial grounds) have been recorded but usually in index form without a full transcript. Maps indicating locations within a burial ground are virtually nonexistent.
