• GARY KUBIAK HEAD COACH – 22Nd NFL Season (12Th with Broncos)
GARY KUBIAK HEAD COACH – 22nd NFL Season (12th with Broncos) Gary Kubiak, a 23-year coaching veteran and three-time Super Bowl champion, enters his third decade with the Denver Broncos after being named the 15th head coach in club history on Jan. 19, 2015. A backup quarterback for nine seasons (1983-91) with the Broncos and an offensive coordinator for 11 years (1995- 2005) with the club, Kubiak returns to Denver after spending eight years (2006-13) as head coach of the Houston Texans and one season (2014) as offensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens. During 21 seasons working in the NFL, Kubiak has coached 30 players to a total of 57 Pro Bowl selections. He has appeared in eight conference championship games and six Super Bowls as a player or coach and was part of three World Championship staffs (S.F., 1994; Den., 1997-98) as a quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator. In his most recent position as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator in 2014, he oversaw one of the NFL’s most improved and explosive units to help the Ravens advance to the AFC Divisional Playoffs. His offense posted the third-largest overall improvement (+57.5 ypg) in the NFL from the previous season and posted nearly 50 percent more big plays (74 plays of 20+yards) from the year before he arrived. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco recorded career highs in passing yards (3,986) and touchdown passes (27) under Kubiak’s guidance while running back Justin Forsett ranked fifth in the league in rushing (1,266 yds.) to earn his first career Pro Bowl selection.

DENVER BRONCOS QUOTES (4/26/17) CORNERBACK CHRIS HARRIS JR. On his feelings about the first two practices “It feels good to be back getting out there to play football again. Just knocking the rust off, and trying to get our fundamentals on point. On Defensive Coordinator Joe Woods “It’s been great. We improved today compared to the first day. We continued to put new defenses in. They’re challenging but I think we’re smart enough to be able to handle that and to come out here and get more turnovers.” On having a healthy LB Brandon Marshall back “It’s huge. We saw that last year we had a drop off in our [run defense], so we need B-Marshall in there to have a big year for us, especially with the run game and these running backs. The way they’re using these guys in the backfield or splitting them out wide as receivers—he has a lot of responsibility, especially at his position. We need him to play huge in order to stop these offenses.” On the sense of urgency for the team “I definitely feel the ‘juice’. You can feel everybody has a little pep in their step. Maybe it’s because of the new coaches. You have a clean slate and the opportunity to start over. It could be a lot of things. Last year, was a little bit lax on our part, just coming off that Super Bowl, but I think we got it back up.” On Head Coach Vance Joseph on the field “Especially on defense and him being a defensive backs coach in the past, it’s huge.

DENVER BRONCOS vs. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS Sports Authority Field at Mile High ● Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016 BRONCOS HEAD COACH GARY KUBIAK Opening Statement “I don’t have my injury card. I think the two guys that we’re concerned about are [OLB] DeMarcus [Ware] and [S Darian] Stewart. That’s the two guys. Those are our concerns coming out of the game.” On switching from QB Brock Osweiler to QB Peyton Manning in the third quarter “Sometimes you just—the feel is that the team is looking around for that guy or that tremendous leadership type of stuff. That’s what I felt. I know Peyton—the last couple weeks have been real good weeks. I knew he was ready to go. I don’t think Brock did anything wrong. I mean, yeah, we had some turnovers, but a couple of them definitely he had nothing to do with. We could have helped him a lot. Just my gut told me to turn it over to him and let him lead the football team. Just very proud of him. He’s worked really hard to stay there for us and it couldn’t have been a bigger day to be there for us. Just a gut feeling.” On how he will handle the quarterbacks moving forward “Yeah, I’ve been hit on that twice already. We’re going to enjoy winning tonight. I’m going to give the guys a break here and we hopefully need to get some guys fresh. We’re going to get back to work on Thursday morning.
