  • After Exciting Kickoff Weekend, Here Comes Week 2
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/15/15 http://twitter.com/nfl345 AFTER EXCITING KICKOFF WEEKEND, HERE COMES WEEK 2 The NFL got “Back to Football” with a thrilling Kickoff Weekend. There were close games, standout performances and stars rising to the occasion. “It’s a good start for us, but it’s only the first game,” says Tennessee rookie quarterback MARCUS MARIOTA, who threw four touchdown passes in the Titans’ 42-14 win over Tampa Bay. “It means we’re 1-0. For me, it’s taking it one day at a time and just executing to the best of my abilities. We have to continue to get better. We have an opportunity to continue to put our best foot forward and for me, that’s exciting.” Making his NFL debut, Mariota dazzled as he completed 13 of 16 passes (81.3 percent) for 209 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions for a 158.3 passer rating, the highest attainable mark. He is the first rookie in NFL history to post a 158.3 passer rating on Kickoff Weekend. All four of Mariota’s touchdown passes came in the first half and he is the only rookie in NFL history to throw four touchdown passes in one half. Tennessee’s 28-point victory is the largest in a season opener by a team starting a rookie quarterback since 1948, when the Chicago Bears and JOHNNY LUJACK won by 38 points. Mariota (2014, Oregon) and Lujack (1947, Notre Dame) are both former Heisman Trophy winners. “Marcus is so poised and confident,” says Titans tackle TAYLOR LEWAN.

O.co Coliseum Oakland, California 1 2 3 4 Total St. Louis Rams 3 0 0 0 3 Oakland Raiders 3 6 3 6 18 Disciplined Football The Raiders played clean football in the first half, committing only one penalty for 10 yards. The team finished the contest with two penalties for 22 yards, marking the team’s first preseason game with fewer than five penalties since Aug. 9, 2013 vs. Dallas (four penalties, 35 yards). Stout Defense, Clutch Offense After allowing an opening-drive Rams FG, the Raiders defense held St. Louis scoreless for the remainder of the game including three straight punts in the first half. The Raiders offense moved the chains when it counted, converting on 7-of-11 third downs (63.6 percent). As a result, P Marquette King was only called into action one time, in the fourth quarter. Carr Connects with Cooper and Crabtree WR Amari Cooper, the Raiders’ fourth-overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, hauled in three catches for 22 yards (7.3 avg.) in his first NFL appearance, all from QB Derek Carr, and had four total touches on the team’s first offensive possession. GARY KUBIAK QUOTES 2015 NFL REGULAR SEASON GAME #10 Chicago Bears vs. Denver Broncos Sunday, November 22, 2015 - Soldier Field - Chicago, IL Opening Statement “We’ll start with injuries- the only guy we got coming out of the game is (Evan) Mathis with an ankle so we’ll see where we are when we get back.” On(Brock)Osweiler playing as well as he could expect for his first start “He did a really good job. We didn’t protect him very good in the first half, I had to take his lumps in a couple situations but kept his composure and would come back and make the next play. He did his job, did a heck of a job and his team played well around him and that’s the most important thing. Very proud of him, he was ready to go.” On his message this week “What we needed to do was go play clean football as a team. We’ve had many turnovers… hurting ourselves and the message this week was let’s protect the football and play. We’ll play great defense. We’re consistent in what we’re doing there. And let’s not hurt ourselves as a team. I think that’s what we ultimately did. We ran the ball well, we moved the ball well, we could have obviously scored some more points in some situations. But I think it got down to playing good defense and protecting the football. That’s a good combination in this league- if you’re able to do those things then you give yourself a chance every week.” On how Osweiler’s skills fit with what Kubiak likes to do with roll- outs and running game “He can do everything.
