2018 WorldFest-Houston 51 Years of Independent Films in Festival HOUSTON, TEXAS USA

WHAT: In its 51st year, WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival will showcase 50 new Independent features films and 108 Award-winning shorts (with several from Germany) from around the globe. All events are open to the general public.

My Country ~ A comedic drama by Giancarlo Iannotta Two brothers who’ve never met — one American, one Italian — take a road trip from Rome to the unknown but picturesque region of Molise on a journey to spread the ashes of their late father in the small town where he was born. Giancarlo Iannotta is attending.

Lend a Hand (Dammi una Mano) Romantic Comedy by Raffaella Covino Synopsis: Caterina, a young and well known psychologist with a perfect life discovers after their Father dies that her sister, Viola, has wasted the family property. Accordions ~ A documentary by Francesco Paladino tells the life story of the brilliant accordionist Enio Scolari from Piacenza, Italy who colari displayed a fabulous talent which eventually saw him play with some of the most prestigious Italian and international big bands and work in the entertainment business Francesco Paladino is attending. Wednesday, 4/25 @ 5pm. 60 minutes Preceded by the short film. The Italian Gaze (14 minutes)

Bruno by Patrea Patrick ~ A bio-pic of Bruno Sammartino, raised in Pizzoferrato, Italy and lived through the German Nazi regime during WW2. Later, the family immigrated to the United States and Bruno entered the world of professional wrestling, becomeing a world champion wrestler and was inducted into the professional wrestlers Hall of Fame. Patrea Patrick plans to attend.

The Last by This dramatic film follows Inspector Stucky investigating a series of murders and the theatrical suicide of Desiderio Ancillotto, a count who lives in the hills of and , in a story that recounts the conflict between greed and respect for the land. Worldly Girl (La ragazza del mondo) by Marco Danieli. Drama When Giulia meets Libero, she discovers there may be another destiny awaiting her, as they embark on an intense period together. A choice that leads to Giulia being completely cut off from the Jehovah's Witness world she belongs to.
